Is having Bad/Painful periods harmful?

Contributor: Sweet-Justice Sweet-Justice
I'm curious. I have always had really bad cramps(not allot of moods sings) and a really heavy flow. I know I should go on birth control but its hard for me to get. But can having naturally bad periods be bad for you body?

Perhaps see your doctor. Really painful cramps + heavy flow sounds less than normal.

That's why I originally went on birth control. I nearly passed out in the street, in Boston, when I was on my way to class; the pain was so bad. Now I feel so much better, almost no cramps. I hope you find a solution that is right for you.

I don't know if it is bad for your body, per se, but there may be something a doctor could do to make that time of the month less painful for you. I think you should get checked out to be sure.

I get it all the time. Went on bc pills and it fucked with my libido. Came off and haven't been the same sense. Doctors won't help me much though with my problem, it's either pills or nothing, and it really sucks. Maybe you'll have better luck and better doctors.

I had really bad periods like that until I had my first baby. It had something to do with hormone levels I think, which is why they always offer the pill as a treatment.

It's always good to ask your doctor about any of these concerns, just in case something else is going on!
