I use a Diva cup. Many other women mention using them in various threads. I prefer using a menstrual cup over tampons and pads.

I love the idea of a menstrual cup; it seems like it would really work for me. I'm still doing research though.

but when you take the cup out does it stay a cup or does it colapse so the blood goes everywhere? is there a string to pull to take it out? how do you put it in? how do you know that you have a good seal so it does end up sideways and you leak all over the place?

It stays in the cup. You empty it yourself and clean it out.

I use a Diva Cup and I've used it for a couple of years. I think it's way more comfortable than pads or tampons. I need to replace mine though, I'm looking into other brands.

If place in the vagina correctly the cup is ment to make a natural seal, unable to collapse, though sometimes they may move up further into the vagina. Many have a tab, though this is not for removal of the item as the seal is made via a suction and you can hurt yourself by using this method. Menstrual cups (aside form the disposable insure/softcup) are ment to sit low in the vagina, with the bottom sitting outside of the vagina, and to remove you simply pinch the bottom of the cup until you feel the suction release and take it out, holding it straight up and down so you do not spill any blood.
I've had less mess in the two years of using a menstrual cup than in the 10+ years of using pads and tampons. I have never once gotten blood on my hands, and it's something i only need to worry about changing (by cleaning it out with a little soap and water) twice a day, once in the morning and again before bed as the majority are made to be worn up to 12 hours at a time, but may vary on your flow; unlike tampons i would feel the need to change every 4 hours.

Does anyone use a menstrual cup? If so what brand do you like best?

If the cup is placed correctly, it forms a suction and it does not "slip" around by sitting, exercise, etc. The only time that the cup may shift positions is while you're having a bowel movement.

I'm afraid to use one...afraid i'd sit down wrong or what ever and it would slip out and have a huge mess.
