I'm not sure what the "right" way is, but I typically shave in the same direction at first to get rid of most of it and then in the opposite direction in order to get a close shave.

One thing I've noticed is that if you are going to shave, shaving regularly is better than occasionally. If I shave regularly I rarely get ingrown hairs - if I shave just 1 or 2 times per week - ingrown hairs are more common.

Using the conditioner and a fresh razor keep my skin smooth - and make my girl anxious to touch - and that's the point!

It is also best to exfoliate regularly to be sure to be rid of any skin cells that can cause more irritation or ingrowns.

Agreed - that is a big help to avoid ungroawns.

I have exfoliating mitts that I use to wash my whole body, it's very invigorating.

Yep the mitts are perfect for that. And agreed, it is invigorating. I love those things

I shave down then up and any other direction after that. I find that by shaving down first you get the hair to a length that doesn't tug as much when you go to shave up. I also agree with exfoliating and shaving often.

I've actually been shaving since I was 2. The best thing to do first is to cut the longer hairs with scissors or a trimmer then get the area really wet, use shave gel instead of shave cream. Then shave up towards your stomach it's best to put your leg up on the shower wall, or sink or something else so your at an angle. Then you shave down towards your legs doing even strokes and rinsing your razor after every swipe then go side to side. Always apply baby oil immediately after your shower don't towel dry. Rub the baby oil in really good so it doesn't transfer to clothes or sheets. Wrap yourself in your towel and air dry naturally. For the shave bumps from shaving too close apply deodrant to your inner thighs yes I'm serious. It works amazingly. Also another tip use cold water instead of hot to shave with.

I'll shave with the grain at first, then I'll go "sideways" or perpendicular to the grain. It gets a lot closer, but doesn't have that dragging feeling that against the grain has.

Hey I figured I would add my 2cents in too. As mentioned trimming longer hair first is important. I also will always use hot water, a fresh blade. I shave up, and then out if that makes any sense. So If I am shaving left of the middle, I will start in the middle and work out towards my thigh.

Eden sells Coochy shave cream that get's awesome reviews, here link

Only if that is what YOU prefer doing. It can be very uncomfortable and I often get a lot of irritation because I shave or do some type of hair removal i.e. electrolysis/creams every single day. Even when we had the 3 tornadoes several days ago and we were without power and we were told the water could be contaminated and it was only cold water, I STILL shaved in the dark, with cold bottled water every single day! I cannot stand not shaving. I've shaved my cooter since I was 13 years old! The only time I every skipped was every once in a while when I let a little thin trail in the middle grow, but I always shave the rest and usually the entire area.

I had an injury from shaving lastnight with the disposable Soleil razors and everytime I use them, I get extreme rashes, burns, etc. and I don't have sensitive skin there at all. I tore a huge chunk from my leg and it bled unbelievably! I never have problems like that with other razors, but if I use those Soleils, I can bet on being cut badly no matter how careful I am.

I would NOT recommend using one of those if you're new to shaving. I would actually say go for a more expensive razor (it DOES matter!) I like using the men's razors I think the one I have is the Schick something or other. It's silver and blue with refillable blades. It works like a miracle! Never leaves razor burn, bumps, itchyness or any irritation and they aren't too high. I love that thing! I've never had a razor like that.

If you are new to it, I would definitely say purchase a NEW razor that has the pivoting razor. It helps work around the curves with no nicks or gashes! I love the venus razors and the men's (just about any men's razor that's blade refillable) are super!

I am not sure how to tell you how but when I shave I just shave in the direction that makes me feel the most comfortable. When you start doing it, you will find out which way you like it best.
