Pain after sex!?

Contributor: Naughty Student Naughty Student
I have an IUD and that might be the problem but I always have been quite sensitive.

I often have terrible cramps an hour or a few hours after sexual intercourse with my man. I was wondering if any other ladies out there experienced this also, and whether you wear an IUD or not?

I should specify that it happens mostly when I get an earth shattering orgasm.

This happens to me frequently, and like you said, the bigger and stronger the orgasm, the worse the pain. I've never had an IUD though and have had this problem since I started having sex over 11 years ago. I've done lots of research and spoken to 2 of my doctors and have been poked and prodded and tested, and all is well - leaving them and me to the conclusion that it's a somewhat common after effect of an orgasm in which my uterus and the muscles surrounding it have just contracted so strongly and tightly that the relaxation and any small contractions afterward can be quite uncomfortable.

It can be for a few seconds up to about a half hour...when it lasts longer, advil takes care of it, no problems. In addition, I know it's not a complication of penetration because if I have sex but don't orgasm, it doesn't happen.

But if this is a new problem for you, and if your IUD is new, you should probably have it checked out, just in case! Better safe than sorry.

I have had my IUD for about 4 years and this is not new. I am glad I am not the only one. I was getting worried I might have a health issue or something. I am supposed to see my doctor this week for my routine check up. I am a little shy to tell her about the pain.
