Period protection: Softcups vs. the Diva Cup!

Contributor: emiliaa emiliaa
I use softcups right now, and I love them! The only issue I have is occasional leakage/having to readjust it once I put it in. I think the cause is my tilted uterus, not really sure, but either way I'll NEVER use tampons again, I only use pads very rarely and find them disgusting when I do. I've been thinking about switching over to the Diva Cup however! That way I never have to run out to the store. However it is a bit of an investment, so I want some input from people who have used both--how do they compare? (Especially regarding 'fitting' over your cervix properly to prevent leaking, and ease of removal in case my anatomy tends toward causing this.)

Thanks all!~

For me, my Diva cup has never leaked, even on days when I was bleeding heavily enough that I had to empty it every two hours. The suction is fantastic! I found it to be much 'safer' than softcups when it comes to leaks.

Nice. I got one today, it's different to use than the soft cups, but it is working pretty well so far considering! Haha

Edit: So far no leaks, and it's easier to remove and put in every time. Woop this is awesome!

I absolutely love my DivaCup! No spills, mostly comfortable, have used the same one for five years. Since they're silicone, they're even boilable!

I considered trying the Softcups at first, but when I heard that they tend to be trickier to insert/remove I went straight for the Diva Cup instead. Never looked back!

I've basically decided that I want to go completely reusable, so I don't think I'll try the Softcups. I'm even collecting cloth pads every so often, just in case I have a situation where I'm unable to use my cup for whatever reason.

I never used softcups, but I did use a diva cup for a long time, and it was fabulous. Never leaked, didn't have any issues with it at all!

I've never tried the Softcups. My Diva has leaked, but only because I'm a ridiculously heavy bleeder and it can only hold suction for so long when it's overflowing.

I've never tried softcups but I do have a Diva. I love it so much. I've only had one leak and that was my fault for not making sure it was in properly. Other than that, it's never leaked. I don't have a heavy flow at all so I only need to empty it twice a day.
