Before I began this current relationship, I'd always been too afraid to have sex during my menstrual cycle. Society pounds it into our heads that periods are gross and unclean, so I just didn't have sex during that time of the month.

I'm weird about it. I had sex on my period with my ex, it was very messy and kind of smelly.
It took something out of the relationship, You know what I mean? Things got too personal with the period sex and the going to the bathroom without closing the door and such.
With this one I told him upfront none of it was going to fly because I believed it made the relationship too personal. There are some things that should remain somewhat mysterious.
It isn't for everyone but it works for us. Hitting four years in march and still just as affectionate as before.

I don't like the feeling of sex around that time, and we're kind of neat freaks. If you are into being messy, well, good for you. But we'd prefer to wait. Also, my partner is freaked out by any kind of blood, and he says the position of things in my body at that time seems to make things feel less comfy for him. Maybe when I try a menstrual cup we'll see how it feels, but I'm not so sure if it will work out...

I tend to not use penetrative toys during my period, but sex is okay. I just lay down a towel first. Contractions from orgasms mean less cramps, and a shorter period
