Please respect my hair removal choices!

I need to rant a little here.
I've seen this SO often; women discussing how they don't shave, because they don't want to look like a child "down there".
Now, shaving or not shaving is an ENTIRELY personal choice, and it's 100% okay to do either (or something in between)!

But it really rubs me the wrong way when I see people getting nasty about how a shaven vagina looks like that of a child's.
Look, I completely appreciate that some people don't like to shave for any number of reasons, or don't like the look of a clean shave. Awesome! But PLEASE, don't tell me that you can't tell the difference between the genitals of a child, and those of a grown woman. Please.
It hurts, it's unnecessary, and I'm really tired of seeing it

Nobody is better than anybody else because of what they do with their pubic hair, dangit!

Sorry for the rant, it's just been nagging at me for a while now and I saw it once again just now!
And remember, this is ONLY directed at people who would shun my own personal choice to shave, with the reasoning that it makes me look like I haven't hit puberty yet Not the reasonable, agreeable folks out there!

My friend said said that this weekend when we were talking about it and she used to shave! She said she can't do it anymore now that she has a daughter and it creeps her out or something along those lines?! I was like....okay....?

I just let it go when I hear it or see it. It's not like I walking around bottomless and everyone sees it. The only ones that see it are me and my fiance and the gyno when I go so it doesn't really get to me.

I always want to turn the argument around and say something along the lines of...

"Look at you being all perverted---sexualizin g children like that! You should be ashamed of yourself!"

Right? Comparing children and adults in that situation is just the most ridiculous argument I have ever heard when it comes to personal grooming. So if I put pigtails in my hair and throw on a school girl outfit after a fresh shave, does that make my husband a pedophile when he throws me down and ravages me? NO! It just means I tapped into his primal nature and got what I wanted out of it. Win-win.

Love that analogy Stormy, my husband would consider that win-win too.

Thank you! I get a little passionate about things when people try to shove innocent decisions and behavior into pedo-land.

I know! It's just pubic hair or lack thereof, people.

They see it as a form of paedomorphism. And while in some people that may be the case, most people I know who do it have other reasons (like hygiene), and their partners find it attractive in them, but wouldn't be attracted to a child.

I can understand both sides. And the reason I trim instead of shave is probably the same as why you shave instead of trim: I prefer the way it feels.

The only thing that bothers me when it comes to hair removal is people who feel that they are obligated to either remove (or not remove) hair because of a partner's or society's pressure.

As far as I'm concerned you can be shaved/unshaved/trimme d/whatever and it won't bother me. Personally I prefer trimmed but that's an aesthetic choice, and not anything else. My partner has gone from fully shaved to fully unshaved many times over and is happy either way (and so am I).

I understand the OPs indignation. However, I usually see this argument (the "looks like a child" thing) when someone who chooses NOT to shave is attacked by being told they are dirty, and smelly and disgusting and no one should give them oral sex because they "don't want to get hair between their teeth." I have see MORE of this insulting behavior from some shavers than the "pseudo pedo" argument from non shavers. Either way, having the choice of how to display your body to your lover should not be judged by others.

I used to not shave, now I choose to, so I can see both sides of the argument. But, I do think the whole thing can be avoided by NOT arguing about it. Someone isn't jail bait if they shave, some one is NOT dirty or unworthy of oral sex if they don't.

If we all respect all "hair choices" there won't be a problem.

I really do not care about what someone else does with their hair, especially if I do not have to see it. I personally like the look and feel of shaved, it makes me feel cleaner. I have shaved for years and have only really let it grow out once in all that time, and I just could not stand it, I felt itchy and dirty.

I agree. We should respect all people's choices about everything. Everyone has the right to do what they wish with their bodies.

I certainly don't look like a child because I shave. And just because someone doesn't shave doesn't mean they are dirty.

While it is slightly unhygienic (odors like to stick to hair), because most people bathe on a regular basis, it doesn't make much difference.

That said, I shave because my partner likes it. I have no preference at all what my pubic hair is like. I usually kept it trimmed prior. It's a lot easier than shaving.

No real opinion on the looks-like-a-child thing.

lol. I shave my vagina and it doesn't look childlike in any way... My lips are too large and my clit is too large and there's just nothing childlike about it. I prefer the feeling of shaved and I do it for no other reason.

Thanks for all the thoughtful responses
I must agree with some posts here; one should only shave or not shave based on ones own choice, not outside pressure! It's a personal choice and no one way can be right for all of us.
Thanks so much for continuing to be awesome, people of Eden!

My mom catered to the misconception that it was a 'I want my cooch to look like a kid's' idea til I schooled her that while SOME people might do that, a majority just likes the hairless look because of reasons.

Mine is because when I don't shave it looks like I've got the Mirkwood Forest growing between my legs. It sucks. :/

I wouldn't really bring hygiene into it - there are arguments why EITHER way is more or less hygienic/healthful.

Honestly, it's why I don't shave, but it's a personal choice and I don't expect anyone else to feel the same way I do. I don't care that you -do- shave, and I don't think it's right for anyone to try to talk down to you because you do. It's just sort of strange to me, now that I have children of my own, both girls. I trim, or have a landing strip - just now the full shave anymore.

And that is the appropriate way of viewing it! If it's just your own personal opinion, that's cool! But when someone wants to tell others that they're weirdos because of their choices, or look down on them for it, that's where it becomes a problem.
