Sex Fact: The Birth Control Pill

Contributor: Jobthingy Jobthingy
I have never been a major acne sufferer so the pill did nothing for that. I do find that now that I am off, my periods are shorter and the massive, week long headache i would get with my period no longer happens.

The pill did not cure my acne but it certainly helped. But I had to get off it as the hormonal issues were "killing" me. I now have an IUD and prior to that, condoms 100% of the time.

I was on the pill several times. It made my acne worse (something I don't have to worry about anymore, although now I have to start buying moisturizing cream!)

However, I always took it religiously and I never got pregnant, so it did the job I wanted it to. I did NOT want to get pregnant in High School or college, and I took it according to directions, even setting an alarm on weekends. I'd take my Pill and go back to sleep) and I kept childless until the very first time we had sex with no protection, 7 years after we first started having sex. I KNOW we're fertile, so it did it's job.

I The Pill. It's freed woman from lives they may not want.

Over here, there is only one that I'm aware of that is desgined to clear acne at the same time. It's far more expensive than the others but I did try it. I didn't go on it for acne - I only get the odd zit here and there so not sure that it actually works but would want to for the price.

I actually began taking birth control to control my terrible monthly cramps and clear up my acne. It worked pretty well and along with my facewash, has helped me many times over with my acne problems. It also helps control my mood swings and my depression most of the time.

I was on the pill for years and years long ago. Its one of the few truly reliable methods of birth control. The only effects I noticed were that it made my breasts slightly bigger and it made my already light periods even lighter.

I don't remember any acne-related effects.

I was on the pill and I didn't have any acne-related effects. However, I wasn't on one that was geared to be a birth control as well as an acne treatment. Before the pill I was on the patch.

I used to take the pill for quite a few years before switching to the ring and now the shot. The birth control pill did clear up my acne, but lowered my libido. The ring cleared up my acne, didn't affect my libido. The shot has made my acne a whole lot worse, and has completely dried me up. Switching back to the ring next month.

Depo (The Shot) is infamous for destroying sex drives. It took me more than 6 months to get my period back and almost that long to get my sex drive back after I was on it.

When I'm on birth control, I feel more attracted to men than I do without it. Isn't that weird?

It didn't make a noticeable difference to me (or my acne), but I'm on the Nuva ring now b/c I'm terrible at remembering to take pills.

Your reasons for birth control mostly mirror my own. I am on birth control mostly for terrible cramps. The pill however also regulated my periods and improved skin blemishes. I only reap the benefits of clearer skin for 3/4 of the month though; my skin starts breaking out again around the time for inactive pills.
On the flip side, my libido may be somewhat changed. I have noticed that I don't get the awesome, clear, super-stretchy, fertile discharge much anymore which is kind of disappointing. I also gained ten pounds in the first few months. I suppose it's a good deal though when you can avoid crippling pain.

When I was on the shot I would bleed lightly for 3 weeks of 4 in a month. It drove me mental. I remember at the time the guy i was with said "sure its a great method of birth control cause youre always fucking bleeding"

I didn't think it helped my acne so much when I was on it, but after I went off it, I started noticing a lot more break-outs than before. Now I almost miss it.

I just started the pill for birth control and acne. I have moderate acne and I am really hoping that it clears it up. I feel so ugly with acne which is why I want it to clear up because it's hard to have sex sometimes because I feel insecure due to my acne. :'(

Ive been on birth control for 3 years now and before i was on it i had really bad acne. I have had less breakouts since i have been on it. The only time i breakout is right before my period. The first month & a half i was on it it made me so nauseous i lost like 10 pounds. It also killed my sex drive for the first month but after that it was back to normal. It has helped ALOT with cramping.

I was on some heavy-duty acne medicine for a while in my early teens, so when I started birth control my acne was mostly taken care of already. I think the pill did help even out my skin, but it was so long ago I can't remember too well.

Ug. I didn't bleed at all when I was on it. My Man made a similar joke. "It's a good form of birth control because your woman never feels like having sex." It was true. Not that we "never" had sex, but my drive was seriously diminished. Not like me at all. I was overweight, feeling asexual and depressed. I didn't feel like myself at all while I was using that drug.

Bleh.

I was and am still on a bill control pill and have found no advantages to the skin by being on it. Although I never had bad skin anyway, my poor brother ended up with that.

I was on the pill for about.. 5 years or so. It didn't really affect my cycle or my acne. But once I got off it.. my body went nuts. I think getting off it affected me more. Now I get crazy acne and I get cramps like crazy. I never really got cramps before. At least I only bleed for about three days.. however, my cycle is also shorter then it was before. :/

I was on Depo for 3 years and I had some achne. I did not have my period, it killed my libido and I gained weight. I would say my achne was average, usually not more than one on my face. Ive been on the pill for the last 4 months now and I did not switch because of achne but thinking about it now I do have less pimples. I havnt had any I can remember since switching.

I was on birth control off and on for about 8 years, and I can say that I have tried just about everything and I didn't notice a difference in my acne. I did notice a difference in my weight... and now I don't cycle like I should. I am not fond of hormonal bc's because of this.

The only that birth control did for me was make my periods lighter, shorter. Im no longer on it and I kinda miss no longer having short light periods. washing my face and making sure I didnt go to bed with makeup on helped with my skin.
