Spirolonactone/Aldacto ne? Anyone?

Contributor: Blinker Blinker
Hello ladies (and gents, too...why not!)

I came back from my gyno not long ago and we talked about my PCOS problems and he prescribed me spironolactone, aka aldactone, an androgen-blocker. I've looked it up and from what I've read, it can help women with PCOS-related hair growth and acne, because it helps rid the body of excess testosterone. One caveat though: it may lower sex drive. Of course, a pill that clears your skin and helps your hormones makes you NOT WANT TO HAVE SEX! Fucking pills.

Anyway, has anyone here tried spironolactone for any reason? It's also prescribed to treat high BP and fluid retention. My biggest concern is loss of libido. I'm already on birth control and we all know how that affects libido sometimes.

GAH! Where's P'Gell? She's the resident go-to gal for medical info

Any thought or tips or stories would be greatly appreciated, guys

I used to proof medical letters and I saw it come up pretty often for patients with BP issues. That's about all I know.

Good Luck!
