Do you take/eat chewable vitamins like Viactiv?

Contributor: K101 K101
Just curious. Feel free to share what kinds of vitamins you do take, even if they aren't chewable. However, I'd like to know which you guys prefer --chewable or swallowable? And why?

I've never really taken the chewable ones except as a kid. The medication I've been on for so long due to endometriosis puts me at very high risk for osteoporosis, so I've had to start taking as much calcium as possible. Unfortunately, calcium carbonate seems to make my stomach really upset, so I go on and off. I am pretty sure calcium carbonate is best though, for my needs anyway, so I try to just bear it.

I was normally taking a calcium supplement and switched to a dollar store brand of breast & bone health vitamins, since it was cheaper and a reputable brand. However, my partner's grandmother has breast cancer and she happened to have a box of the Viactiv chocolate breast & bone chewables. She hated them and said she couldn't eat them, so she sent them to me and I've been stuck on those ever since. They are far more expensive than my dollar store pill-form vitamins though! But these don't cause my stomach to hurt.

So, tell me your vitamin needs and preferences? Do you take a breast and bone health supplement? If so, which do you like best? I know some brands of vitamins (even very, very reputable brands) have been "busted" with a lot of horrible ingredients and mostly not even the actual vitamins being in their product! I remember reading that one brand had been "busted" with having a toxic level of something in the vitamins and all kinds of bad news. So now, I'm always careful to reasearch a bit about the brand I take. I don't know much about the Viactiv stuff, but I do hope it's worth it for the price!

Any brands you prefer most?

I prefer to take chewable multivitamins. right now I'm preggers so I have to take prenatal which I can't find chewable. I also take an easy to digest iron supplement Since I tend to be anemic. I take the Fem Med prenatal's.

I take chewable vitamins about 3 times a week. I've tried gummies, but they don't feel as effective... lol, I am sure that is just in my head though!

I have anemia too. Although it's really improved lately--I think from my aloe intake and improvements in what I eat. However, I dislike iron in vitamins too as it upsets my stomach. I try to get iron from eating food instead that way it don't bother me. I've heard that cooking foods in an iron skillet actually puts iron into your body! Weird! But that could be an old myth?

I take a prenatal vitamin to help get my body ready to conceive in the next 3 months or so. It's from the Garden of Life company and is made from real organic food. The neat thing about it is you can take it on an empty stomach, unlike synthetic vitamins.

I don't currently take a vitamin, but I'm thinking about getting the gummy kind because I feel like I'll be more likely to take them. :]

I used to take the viactiv calcium chews. They're yummy. Then I ran out and didn't buy more. I just take a gnc multivitamin now. I have to take either chewable or powdered mixes. My mouth/throat is shaped to where I have difficulty swallowing any pill larger than a tylenol, so that pretty much excludes most multivitamin pills.

When I was pregnant with both of our children I would take a standard pre-natal vitamin, with an extra DHA pill on the side, (later in my second pregnancy I also had to take an additional iron supplement).

When I'm not pregnant I take regular ol' Women's One a Day, (when I remember, that is). Sometimes when money is tight, though, I'll share my son's chewable Flintstone vitamins. It's kind of sad that at 27 years old I still love those things!

I used to take Viactiv but found that family members ate them like candy. It's too expensive to snack on. Currently I take several different vitamins mostly because I have terrible eating habits and a nervous stomach. Taking vitamins at night works better for me since they make me sick in the morning. Gummy vitamins are l.fun so my multivitamins are gummy. The others are all natural.

I take cranberry pills, chewable because they stop me from getting UTI's or bladder infections and they have vitamin C
