That thing that 'ladies' don't talk about. Anonymous Poll/

Yes, your 'bathroom habits.'

Many women suffer from digestive ailments. They've got yogurts, cereals, drinks, and a while bunch of other stuff out there to make you go a lot easier that are specifically marketed towards women.

So what about you? How often do you go?

I know this poll is icky, but we're all adults here. Personally, I think it has a benefit so we can see how we compare to the other women here.

For me, the problem is that I don't drink enough, which makes it too hard sometimes. I am trying very hard to drink more, as much as I can, but I have a very weak thirst sense (except sometimes, when I just have to drink a TON) and I get "full" very easily. It's also difficult because as soon as I drink more than a glass of liquid, I have to pee really soon. I get plenty of fiber as I am a vegetarian and each meal we consume contains a ton of vegetables or fruits. It is much better now that I force myself to keep drinking past the point I would normally quit.

I have IBS, although I am not ashamed to talk about it with anyone who will listen, because I figure I can help educate people who have the same issue.

My biological mother, and my brother both have IBS as well.

I have IBS too. No more all fruit dinners for me. And potato chips are now the food of the devil. Both of these reward me with 12 hours of intestinal cramps.

Oh . . . my . . . god. I know how you feel. I have IBS-A which means I alternate between not going for a week and then having to run to the bathroom. I haven't found a particular food that causes me to have episodes, but I get a gut feeling (pun intended) when I should eat and when I shouldn't. It can be something as simple as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich that does it for me.

I think it's hilarious that I have the "little green pills" for when I go too much, and the "little pink pills" for when I don't go enough.

And, of course, this make anal play pretty difficult because I never know what's going on down there. My love is aware of my problems and said he doesn't mind if there's a little mess, but I certainly do!

I don't generally have any problems in this area. However, I have to start taking more magnesium to help try and prevent kidney stone formation. Everything I've read about taking that high a dose of magnesium said it has serious bathroom repercussions, so I'm a little concerned about that. But, there's always another med I can take for that if it happens I suppose.

I used to suffer from severe constipation regularly, maybe going #2 once a week. I never knew I should have been going once a day (at least)! But then when I got an anal fissure that caused massive blood loss my doctor at the time was wonderful enough to give me information on how to address it. Now I drink/eat plenty of fiber products, keep my cheese to a minimum, and have overall taken better care of my digestive system. Now my body is much happier for it.

But I will add as a side-note that if your doctor prescribes you milk of magnesia to help get your bowels moving - DON'T take more than you're prescribed! I took a little, thought it wasn't doing anything for me and took way more a few hours later and spent the entire night in the bathroom... Not. Fun.

Hey... anyone else notice we have this smiley in our system now?

Sorry to hear that! Awful condition to have!

I have a pretty extreme case, I can't eat anything at all without symptoms so eating more than dinner on days where I am out such as work or errands is impossible for me. My brother has it as bad as I do! When I'm having serious issues even water will upset my stomach although all I get is the sharp pains with water.

I was actually taking Nexium for a while, which helped a tiny bit!

My mom and sister are IBS-C, so they can never go and laxatives were plentiful in our household, while I was the one running to the bathroom within 20 minutes of eating something. It's really frustrating to dig through all the medicine in the whole house to find nothing but laxatives when you need something to stop you from going.

I always make sure to carry Immodium with me just in case. When I spend the weekends with my lover, I take it "just in case" if I find myself eating shady foods. Even if I don't take it, I can never go when I'm at his place. It's like everything stops completely when I'm there. In the 6 months we've been together, I've only had one real bad attack when I was there.

For me, it seems to be eating too soon after I wake up that bothers me. It's been that way for a long time.

I read something on a forum one time where someone said "I wish we could all trade our D and C vouchers so we could all be normal." I mean, it makes lots of sense to me.

PS - This thread means that the can finally be used in abundance!

That was me with the Correctol pills. I took one and thought it didn't do anything, so I took two more and spent the entire day in the bathroom. Right now, I'm HORRIBLY bloated. I'm going on a trip in a day in a half to the beach. I hope the meds worked for me this time. I only took one. We shall see. Haha.

I sometimes suffer from mild constipation, my remedy is gulping a whole cup of hot coffee in the morning, I'm usually ready to visit the bathroom within ten to fifteen minutes. I also drink a lot of juices after dinner. At night before I shower, I'll drink up a glass of very warm water, that helps with my constipation problem most of the time. I always believe drinking hot beverages helps my digestive system in a good way.

I luck out and have both good digestive genetics and good dietary habits (I'm practically a water addict, and I enjoy a lot of fibrous foods) so I pretty much never have a problem in either direction unless I eat something stupid that my system's not used to.

(When I was functionally vegetarian, but would come home to my family where vegetarianism wouldn't have been tolerated, and we had venison fondue? I was constipated the whole rest of the weekend, because my system wasn't used to meat.)

But, I go about daily (sometimes more, sometimes less), there's probably a schedule that I could figure out if I wanted to, but since I never have any problems I've never invested the time analyzing.

I know I don't eat properly, but I seem to luck out in that department. I don't have regular times that I go, but I don't get constipated and can go when I feel like I need to.

I've lived my life always constipated. I will go every other day if I am lucky. I don't get stomach pains or anything a lot of the time, I just can't go. I do have a problem with other digestive issues like severe acid reflux and things like that now, I didn't used to have any problems. So sometimes a lot of what I eat depends on how bad that is. But I don't think it has too much of an influence on my pooping.

If it gets really bad I make a really really strong pot of coffee. And after Im done drinking a cup or two I can go.

I never knew one could actually poop regularly. I always went randomly, sometimes after holding it for days because I was in school or at work when I originally had to go (I learned to live with a plunger close by ). I began eating plain yogurt + flax + fruit for breakfast each day a month ago and have been pooping daily. I drink coffee sporadically and it usually makes me go within a few hours, too.

I still, however, get traveler's constipation. When I'm at my boyfriend's house, my system shut downs and I am stuck trying to pass a brick. That's nerve wracking as 1] It's super painful and 2] I'm scared I'll clog up his toilet. I was on vacation this past week and drank 3+ cups of coffee per day, yet still couldn't go. I bought milk of magnesia but was paranoid my bowels would go to the extreme opposite, so I haven't tried it yet.

I'm usually pretty average when it comes to this, but when it gets close to my period I'm constipated, then when I get my period I run to the bathroom a lot. My body has been on a schedule like that for years now.
I have problems other times of the month sometimes, but not much anymore. I eat a lot of foods with fiber in them normally, and found out that I love a lot of the Fiber one brand foods and such, so I'm definitely getting my fiber intake.

As long as I stay hydrated, I am usually fine. I had to have my gall bladder out emergency surgery earlier this year, and getting over the nasty results of that took awhile! I was worried that I would have the runs forever, but luckily they finally went away. My surgeon did not warn me about that at all, I had to do some googling to find out that it was a common problem after that type of surgery.
