The Pill

I have never taken the pill before and was recently given a perscription for Levora. My body did not agree with this pill and I was wondering which brand most of you find to be the most effective with the least amound of side effects.

I'm doing all right with OrthoTriCyclen without any weight gain or other side effects, although I hear that the next gen of it - OrthoTriCyclen-Lo - is even better (I won't be able to report on the next gen, as I'm getting my tubes tied in three weeks).

I still haven't found one that works for me, they've all been killing my sex drive.

Chilipepper is right about the Ortho-Lo. That is what I was on most recently. The only issue I had with it was one of those rare issues that could've happened with any type, and is SO rare that it hadn't ever been reported to the drug company.

My GUY had a sensitivity to it! I didn't at all, but he did! WEIRD!

He had itching/dryness on his penis and it caused the skin to crack. But apparently this is so rare that most pill companies don't even list it as a side effect or even know about it!

Other than that no issues with it which was nice, because I was on Yaz which I didn't have any issues with but it does have risk of blood clotting especially in the lungs.

I use Necon, which I like
It's not perfect, but it's better than Depo and has few side effects!

I'm on Yaz/Gianvi, it works fine for me. Gianvi is the generic, I don't have a problem with it. I don't remember what my sister is on now, but she is about to start using the shot.

I'm on OrthoTriCyclen -Lo and I absolutely love it. I haven't had any side effects at all. It pretty much eliminates my cramps and it makes my period shorter and lighter.

Doesn't the Depo have a black box warning? That's why I didn't get it, I could have sworn I read that somewhere

I have tried quite a few different pills..and nearly all of them made me way too hormonal..too emotional, couldn't function without getting upset over the little things. That was the case with OrthoTriCyclen, Loestrin 21, all the generics of loestrin (like Gildess) etc..and then I was put on Apri..because my insurance changed and it was the WORST. It made my periods light but they lasted for weeks! At first I thought it would be maybe a month or 2 of my body adjusting to it, but no..so I had to change it. The only one that has worked for me is Loestrin24 - it's brand only so it's pricy but it works! No hormonal issues like before, no weight gain, light periods, short periods..just the price is rough!

I did fine on Yaz for about a year before it made me super nauseous a few days before my period. I switched to the generic Seasonique and was on that for two years with no problems, then decided not to continue with hormonal birth control.

Your there first not to recommend Ortho TriCyclen, and thank you for that because I was considering it. One of my problems was that it made me way more emotional than I usually am and that was stressful for myself and those around me. I have had this happen in the passed with other medication that messed with my hormones and it made me feel like nothing would work for me. Thank you for your input I really appreciate this and will look into Loestrin 24 to see if my insurance covers any of the cost and for potential side effects

I cannot take any of them.

If I do, I bleed nearly 100% of the month in HUGE amounts and I shake constantly.

I can only tolerate POP's (Progesterone only). Anything with Estrogen and I'm puking up a storm and my blood pressure sky rockets...
