Urethral Pain - Frustrated

Contributor: Eden C. Eden C.
I know I've posted about this before, but I have a lot of pain around my urethra during penetration and I am so, so, so frustrated! 2 days ago, I asked my girlfriend to use the Mistress (1.25" wide) in my vagina and it hurt tremendously. I guided it into my vagina (it's not like she was pushing into my urethra) and it still hurt. I used plenty of lube. So I asked if we could try the dong from the New comer's strap-on, which is .75" wide. It still was so painful I could not go on. I was very aroused (despite the pain), we were using lots of lube, and the toys were clean, but I still had this burning, stinging sensation in my urethra. I keep doing internet searches but I feel like I'm the only one in the universe who has this problem. Since it's so uncommon, my doctor doesn't have any suggestions. What the Hell can I do?

Are you positive it's not a UTI? That is definitely very frustrating

That would have been my first guest, but I tested negative for a UTI!

If your doctor does not have any suggestions, get another opinion. There is absolutely nothing wrong with requesting a referral.

Kindred has some good advice. A second opinion is always a good bet.

Could it possibly be the lube?

That's what I thought, but I've tried with so many different lubes that it seems unlikely. Maybe I should try a special hypoallergenic lube.

Do you have pain at other times or just during sex?

I have pain during urination sometimes, which would lead me to believe I have a UTI, but when my doctor tested me for that, I came back negative.

Urological problems seem to run in my family; my mom, grandma, and grandfather all had them frequently. Maybe I inherited a urethra with a loop in it or something...

I'd have a second test done, as well as having a test for a bladder infection done.

Every time I have peeing pain, it's a UTI.

Barring that, perhaps you've got a tiny tear on your lady bits?

Either way, I'd hit a gynie.

Maybe try seeing a urologist as well? Since it's their specialty area, they may be able to find things the gynecologist might miss.

I'm assuming you're currently seeing an Ob/GYN. Maybe a urologist would have a different perspective?

Also, I agree with a retest. I'm not a human doctor, but in animals UTIs can be difficult to diagnose. Something else would be to look at a standard urinalysis if they haven't already. Urinary crystals, abnormal pH, etc. could all potentially cause discomfort when urinating.

I thought about that! I noticed that urologists are normally associated with men and they kind of specialize in male genitalia as well as the urinary system. Are they used to seeing female patients?

Good call, a urologist would definitely be a appropriate action.

Update - I talked to my mother about it (she's awesome) and she said she has the same problem, especially now she has been through menopause. She offered to pay for me to see a gynecologist and recommended that I try a lube called Good Clean Love. I'll try that and then I'll let everyone know how it turns out!
Thanks again!

She does. Sometimes her advice is perfect, other times not so much (e.g. "If you sleep around, your heart will never get broken!" and "Always check your underwear for crabs!") It surprising how similar our gyno issues are even though we're so far apart in age. I just try very hard to talk with her about it and get the advice I need without thinking about her boning my dad D:

I'll try it out and then get back to you!

So I went to the gynecologist and told her I was not leaving until I had an answer. She took a look and could not find anything wrong, so she wrote me a referral to see a uro-gynecologist. I'll have to wait and see!

Update: I went to the uro-gynecologist yesterday. She basically probed every part of my vulva and gauged my reaction. Then she said that my case was very simple, which surprised me because I've had so much trouble finding answers. She said I'm having trouble with my anterior urogenital fascia (connective tissue) and that I need physical therapy. Physical therapy for my vagina...this should be interesting. She said it would include massage and vibration therapy. I told her I probably had the vibration therapy covered. I know that physical therapy is supposed to be painful, but the description is pretty pleasant.

I'll keep everyone posted on my vagina physical therapy, massage, and vibration therapy...

Sounds a lot like my twin sis. She was in the hospital lastnight again with that type of pain! She's had kidney problems since we were babies. Anyways, the girl has already passed stones several times and now she's desperate. What we did was get aloe vera pills (natures factory only!) and we started them today. I hope you'll read about them. They're amazing for thing like chronic UTI'S and any vaginosis, yeast infection, herpes, any kind of genital issues or urinary issues. IT'S also supposed to be amazing for endometriosis and IBS which was my reasons for taking it and my sis I actually don't think she ever even took her dose today, but she'll be starting with me. I think it'd be worth a try! They're harmless and they have some of the most amazing health benefits Ive ever heard of. I've already posted a long couple of comments here about them so I won't do that again. Lol. But I hope you find help I know those kind of problems have to be miserable. Ive saw my sis go through it.

One of the reasons I was so on her about taking the aloe pills was because of an older woman I talk to has told me she had serious kidney problems for years and years and ended up on aloe pills for something else. She said she felt light pressure after about a week of taking them & all of a sudden she peed out the huge kidney stone that she didn't even know she had! She said it seemed that the aloe made them come out at least 50% less painful than normally.

For the price, you really can't beat it. If you try them, do let us know how it works and if you want, I could keep you updated with my sister's results on them with her kidneys and urinary tract stuff. It takes a while for them to work. I think you're supposed to take a few a day for a week or two before you start getting benefits, but it sounds great and I'm really hoping it does good. I've heard so many people talk good about them so I had to try myself.

You probably have some sort of UTI. Women can be very sensitive. I work at a woman'scouples health center and planned parenthood 3 days a week, and we deal with this a lot.

If in the past you had some burning during urination, and ignored it... even though it may have gone away, the infection could still be in there. Your kidneys could be in bad shape. Kidney stones can be in there as well, as someone mentioned above me. So it is important to get these things checked on.

When any sort of foreign material comes in contact with the urethra it can cause pain. Even your own vaginal mucous. Vaginal mucous isn't only vaginal mucous. It contains bacteria, dirt, and whatever is around your vagina all day long. All of which should not be near your urethra.

Pee before, after, and any time you feel you need to during sexual play. This is your body telling you it needs to get something out of you. Don't hold it in.

The lube itself may be bad for you. Some women cannot use any lube whatsoever. No matter if it is water-based, oil-based, or whatever. They simple cannot use it. Toys can also upset your vagina, and glass is really recommended for people like this. It is the cleanest, most safe material you can use.

Vaginismus can occur if this becomes ongoing. I just answered to a girl about her vaginismus and UTI's, yeast infections, etc. can all lead to this painful problem.

Please see a doctor, and refrain from ANY sexual play until your doctor says otherwise. You can really hurt yourself, this is a serious thing.

Great advice! One thing the clinic recommends in my city is for girls to take aloe pills. Also to keep a very organic diet whenever possible. Soda is terrible for women because we have such sensitive bladders. We are a whole different story than men are.

Check out Young Living Essential oils. They have a website (sorry, don't have it on hand) and a catalog. Look up oils for UTI's, urinary infections, and the kidneys. I've been using these oils for two years now and I have treated my bad periods, UTI's, kidney stones, and Epilepsy with these oils. I stand by them 100%!
