Ladies I've been thinking about waxing down there. Has anyone done this and doesn't mind sharing their experience and thoughts about it?

I've never had it done, and it I were to do it, I would only do my bikini line, and I certainly wouldn't risk doing it myself.

But if you want to do it yourself, I'd suggest testing out whatever waxing product you decide to use on a patch of hair on your leg, or even arm, to figure out how to do it, and get a indication of how much it will hurt.

And then assume that waxing your genitals will hurt a whole lot more.

I work at a spa so I have lots of experience with this

Definitely have a professional do it, don't do it by yourself without training.

make sure you grow your hair out for about a month if you have been shaving, if the hair isn't long enough the wax wont pull out the hair

the level of pain depends on your sensitivity, the thickness of your hair, and the skill level of the esthetician. Some people think it doesn't hurt at all, some people have a lot of pain with it so it really depends.

When you get it done let them know it is your first time.

I haven't had it done in several years, I got laser hair removal so it's no longer needed for me

I've been Brazilian waxing myself for 10 years now. It's cheaper to just learn to do it yourself. It absolutely sucks at first but now I'm so used to it. It's really nbd.

I started waxing in August. It's expensive but worth it. The first time, don't expect every hair to be gone. After the first two or three waxes, the hair will be on the same growth cycle. The longer you wax(I have friends who have been waxing longer than I have), the thinner the hair will get and won't grow in as much. The first wax is the worst as far as pain but it only last about 20 mins. I don't have a high pain tolerance but I can handle waxing.

I did it once a couple years ago. I've had my eyebrows and upper lip waxed for ages now so I figured I'd give the bikini a go. I must be honest in that I have a high pain tolerance so I may not be the best person to go off of. I honestly didn't think it was that bad. At first it does hurt but it kinda numbs after awhile too. Certain areas were more sensitive but all in all it was not as bad as many painted it to be.

I'd probably always let a professional do it though. I'd never trust myself.

This is something I do on a regular basis. The first time was a bit of a shock, to be honest.

I have had my waxing done 2 ways. 1) was with a soft wax. This takes a LOT longer to do. This was my first experience And it was nearly an hour long process of near torture. 2) was with hard wax. This was almost a one and done swipe process---love it!!! This is what my girl now uses. I'm in and out in less than 15 minutes (and I go totally bare). There's a little bit of pain but nothing compared to that first time.

I've been getting professionally waxed for almost 10 years, now. (I have curly hair... everywhere... and shaving caused a lot of problems with ingrowns and rashes.) I can hardly feel any "pain" on my legs and underarms and upper pubis, but the area by the labia is still a bit "painful." (I get the full Brazilian.) Having said that..... it's actually not a big deal, since it's over quickly. While I was never really super hairy to begin with..... now I'm almost bald, in a lot of areas, including the "sweet spot". And re-growth is very fine. I can go for 6 weeks, in the winter and 4-5 weeks in the summer, in between appointments. Beats the bother of shaving, every 2-3 days!

I wax myself. I find that it doesn't hurt that much as long as you do it regularly. The first time you wax or if you haven't waxed in a while, it hurts the most. My S.O. picks out my hairstyle "down there." So, right now it's a landing strip.
