Waxing pubic hair...any women's experiences?

Contributor: Kat Shanahan Kat Shanahan
OK, female-bodied people...I've always shaved my pubic hair but to be honest, this time I'm feeling lazy and I'm debating whether or not I should try the wax kits you can buy at drugstores (you know, Nair wax strips or whatever.)

Thing is, I'm hesitant because I'm a wimp. *L* So I'm looking for experiences from people who might have gone the wax route. Was it painful? Did you wish you'd never done it? Would I just be better off using my trusty razor? Help!

I've never been able to get at-home wax to work on my pubic area - neither the tub type you warm up nor the strips. They work fine on my legs, so I'm using them correctly. But in the pubic area the hair grows in different directions, so it's a lot harder to just zip it off in the direction of hair growth. I also find it harder to hold the skin taut as needed for a clean pull because the curves down there just don't cooperate well.

I wish I could wax my pubic area. I love how wax works on my legs & such, being so long lasting & whatnot, but it's just one of those skills I am incapable of, apparently. I always end up having to go over an area multiple times & end up sore & still hairy.

I recently got an epilator & am a total convert. I've discussed it in some other threads if you want to see my comments on that.

As far as the pain level of pubic waxing, I can't really give an accurate answer as I always give up before I get far. I don't find it painful on my legs, though. I'd totally rather have a little wax yanking periodically than the evil pointy ingrown hairs from shaving.

I also have a hard time when it comes to wax strips b/c the hair does grow in different directions so you tend to have to go over the same spot over and over again and pull from different directions.

It's painful and if you're interested in waxing I would pay the money to invest in having someone else do it for you at least once. They WILL do a better job and it will hurt less. Plus, the products they use are just better. The spa I went to uses a natural soy-based product that actually isn't a real wax.

Additionally, it hurts less every time you do it. The first time will hurt the most because the hair follicle root thing is a lot bigger because it has never been pulled/removed completely.
