Weight and Sex

I know I've already started about 10 million discussions on a similar topic, but I just wanted to share this. I'm recovering from an eating disorder, and my BMI is around 22.0 right now (some say the "ideal" body mass index is 20.0, some say 22.0). For months, I had what society and the fashion industry might call a hotter body, but I was far too weak to have sex. This week, my girlfriend and I started having sex a lot more frequently, and it's much better! Yes, I'm still self-conscious about my body, but it's just physically more enjoyable. I've heard a lot about how being obese or overweight can cause medical difficulties during sex, but never anything about how having a slight build could affect enjoyment. Let me tell you, being thin is not worth it if your sex life is ruined. I may not like how my body looks in some dresses now, but that's okay because I can take that shit off and have an awesome time in the bedroom.

I'd just like to encourage everyone to maintain a healthy weight, and if you are above your healthy weight range, to not crash diet. Depriving your body of energy like that will make sex terrible. Lots and lots of people love curvy women, but not very many people like weak, sickly women.

That's all, I just wanted to share this with someone. Thanks for reading!

What a great post Eden C. I have struggled with an eating disorder too and I've noticed that I am much happier and definitely much healthier at a higher weight. I know that the thinner I get, the less sexy I feel even though I think I look better.

I often feel like I'm too heavy, but I am actually able to enjoy a sex life now. When I was thinner I wouldn't let anyone get close to me or see me naked so there was no sex life.

Life is so much better when you are able to experience more of what it has to offer and not just focusing of food and weight all the time.

For me, it's not about weight, but whether I feel healthy. If I feel healthy, then my sex drive increases. I am happy that you feel better in your body now!

While I understand how you feel about your body, I can honestly say that it's all mentality. If you start embracing your body as it is, you'll start to feel sexy again. Taking pride in your body also helps you get back to your goal weight. If you don't love your body, you won't treat it right. I will say, your current weight is a goal for me to achieve.

As a large woman, I can say that while being larger can put some limitations on positions, I have a very full and satisfying sex life. And honestly, a much more satisfying sex life than a lot of my "pretty, skinny" friends have because I care less about how I look and more about the fun I'm having. Do I think about how I look? Of course! But not to the point where it limits me from enjoying a few intense orgasms.

It definitely is about mentality as well as physical health. When I was sick, I couldn't have sex because it would raise my blood pressure and I'd feel dizzy and pass out. If sex makes you pass out, then it doesn't really matter how sexy you think you look.

Also, be sure to have sex with someone who loves your body!
