I like to use what I call the trinity - pill, male condom and vaginal contraceptive films (VCF). The VCFs are sold next to the condoms. They're a 2 inch square that looks like a clear plastic fruit roll up. You fold them up and insert them and wait 20 minutes for them to melt. Please wait the full 20 minutes. (My cousin had baby#4 because she was impatient).

You (and your partner) may feel a slight tingle sensation like a you placed a cough drop in your vagina during oral and vaginal sex. There really isn't a taste, but you get the tingle.

Condom with emergency contraception as a back up. I do not have sex that often to be on a pill every single day.

Some of your choices below HAVE Progestin in many formulas. Sterilization is okay if you NEVER, EVER want children..etc. There is no way that the "right" thing for one person is necessarily right for YOU. depends on your body and YOUR plans, and what your partner too, will go with. Maybe HE can get "snipped", unless, of course, you DO want children...etc. It is ALL so very personal.

VCF would be a good option for you.

Ask your doctor what would be best for you! I love the pill I've been on it for 3 years and it not only serves as bc but regulates my periods!

I'm on the pill for health reasons but we have never depended on it for birth control. Even when I wasn't on the pill we used the "pullout method". It's very effective IF done correctly and consistently. We've been together for 4 years without even a scare

Everything has progestin in it if it is hormonal, so your options are to do non-hormonal forms of birth control. Not all of them have estrogen, but all have progestin. Some progestins work differently from other kinds, though.

A very effective non-hormonal option is Paragard, a non-hormonal copper IUD. It's fabulous and has no side effects aside from heavier periods and potential cramping. I, however, do not have these problems with it, though I did have heavier periods the first several months.

Of course, there's also spermicide, condoms, and the diaphragm, and a very carefully calculated rhythm method that requires checking your temperature and cervical mucus and all that and it takes a lot of time and effort so it's not popular and without doing all that, it's really not that accurate.
