Dental dams can help reduce the spread of venereal diseases, including herpes. Herpes can be spread even among monogamous couples; if someone has a cold sore or is shedding on their mouths, they can spread it to their partners' genitals during oral sex. And considering that up to 90% of the American population are carriers on one form of herpes or another, it's something to think about. So yeah, you monogamous couples aren't exempt from STDs.

Um, I've never used them before, but if my partner asked me to, I would oblige them.

It's a good idea. I've never used one and I won't because I'm in a monogamous relationship but people who aren't should.

Nah, we don't bother. They seem to get in the way quite a bit, and since we're exclusive to one another, there's little point.

If I was talking about safer sex I would encourage the use of dental dams. But in reality...I don't practice what I preach. It just wouldn't be the same. irresponsible i know

Back in the day they were near impossible to find. It's cool that EF carries them. Also, Certain kinds of saran wrap can be used.

I just took a brief look at the product page, and I hadn't thought of analingus. I would use dental dams in that situation.

I would use them on a person I don't know. In this day it is best to be safe until you are in a commented relationship.

I wouldn't, since I like my oral sex to be within a monogamous, committed relationship, but they're great for times when you're more iffy about it!

I couldn't agree more with Ms. Spice! Being monogamous won't prevent you from getting those viruses that stay in a human body forever, like herpes or HPV. Also saliva and microorganisms that live in one's mouth can cause lots of unpleasant things for ladies with sensitive vaginas. For instance, I'm very prone to yeast infections and it was one of the reasons to stay away from oral for some period of time and try those dental dams. Not the best experience ever, I'm not interested in using them anymore even if it means no oral at all. No thanks. It's not easy to get things going with even without a thick barrier on top, so dental dams make oral worthless However, again, there certainly are reasons to use dental dams even in monogamous long-term relationships. They are just not for everyone, I guess.
