Personal Stores? What's that?

Personal Stores.

What is a personal store?

I'm glad you asked!

Eden Fantasys is trying something new, something maybe a little crazy, definitely a lot cool – Personal Stores.

A Personal Store is just what it sounds like; an area of EF that is “roped off” as your own personal store. You get to design it, name it, decorate it with images you like. You get to pick the products that go in it, you get to add video and articles that would appeal to your shoppers. You also get to use your affiliate link to direct people there so that anything they purchase from your wonderful store makes you a bit of money.

Like I said, cool, isn't it?

Now these personal stores aren't live yet - other than a couple of tests done some EF staff - but we'd like them to be soon.

Eventually, if they work out, we'll likely open the opportunity up to all our contributors but for now we're keeping it small for testing. Only a handful of personal stores will go live at first, letting us see how they work with our current system and how they perform.

So how are we going to decide who gets to make a personal store?

That's easy! Give us your ideas, tell us what you'd do to make a personal store that is unique and special. The best ones? Will get to actually create those stores and be a part of the trial.

We want these stores to be different, specific and purposeful. EF has tons of search parameters that make it very easy for folks to find rabbits, all silicone rabbits, clitoral vibes, mastrubators, realistic dildos, etc. We don't want a bunch of personal stores dedicated to items that are easily found and sorted on Eden Fantasys already.

So put your thinking caps on. Come up with something special! Make this individual and unique to you. Make it something folks would want to visit.

Are you an expert on p-spot stimulation? Make a store that helps shoppers find all the gear they need to be a pro, too. Books, movies, toys, lubes.

Love Jesse Jane? Make a Jesse Jane store.

You get the idea. Some examples can be found here and here

Only... you can't really make the store yet. You have to pitch the idea first! Then, as I said, the best ones, the ones most likely to add a unique and creative aspect to our customer's shopping experience, will be chosen and we'll let you actually set up the store.

Sound fun? Sound exciting? Sound a little crazy and a lot cool?

Do it! Pitch me those ideas, guy! You can put the ideas out there right here, on this forum post, or you can shoot me an email (carrie ann at edenfantasys dot com) -- which ever works for ya.

Since I still consider myself a rookie with some things, I wouldn't mind putting together a store to help fellow rookies like myself. Such as if they are wanting to try g-spot vibrators for the first time, etc. I know that would have helped me so much when I first started out.

I think that sounds like a great idea! I wouldn't mind making a store that had the items I've reviewed in it. That way they would be all be in one place and easy to find for my readers.

How about a "kinky couples" store? Like with BDSM things as well as couples vibrators, cock rings maybe, and other toys that can be used for intercourse.

Great Idea! It would be great to talk about the products on my blog and then send them to a page that features that particular product along with others I would recommend. My audience is women that are middle-age and wanting to rev up their vanilla sex. Not very creative, but certainly marketable.

I would love the opportunity to open a store geared towards Transgendered people, and their lovers. I believe it would be excellent to provide an easy to use resource where shoppers could find exactly what they're looking for all in one place. I'm not Trans myself, but my lover is, and I know what has worked for us or hasn't, given our special circumstance. Not quite a hetero couple, not so easily defined as just "same-sex", Transgenders often fall into the cracks somewhere in between. I'd like it if there was a store dedicated to helping the Transgendered community. Pretty please with 10,000 cherries on top!

These personal stores sound way cool! I love the ideas that have been posted so far. I may have an idea or two that have potential but still need a bit more polishing up before they're post-ready, and that will have to wait til after finals are over Do we have a deadline for sharing our ideas?

It's just a random thought that would definitely need more polishing, but maybe something that has lingerie that actually works well for most people, instead of hoping like heck the one you order isn't a spectacular failure?

So, I get that they will give you the commissions from the store, will our links still give you commissions from EF if we link from our blogs to an item not sold in our own store? I seriously hope that isn't as confusing as it sounds to me :/

Yes. The items in the store itself aren't affiliate coded. You make affiliate money by directing folks to the store -- then, if they browse regular EF, too, they're still there on your "code cookie". It's really no different than the regular affiliate program; you still have to get folks there for you to earn. It's just a really nice way to get them here.

Perhaps even a store geared toward gender play items? Not necessarily for couples, but perhaps just for that purpose, like their gender tab that they currently have?

Ohh, I think a store all about romance, seduction and connection (between partners) would be awesome! Think softness, sensation and aroma. Products meant to seduce such as romantic/erotic music, aromatherapy candles and rose petals. Toys such as massagers (like jimmyjane's contour series), ticklers and body paint. Perhaps lingerie, erotic games and movies with a theme to help get the mood started as well. Definitely books too, like erotica and communication focus. (like how to talk to your partner about sex, etc)

There should also be articles giving ideas for setting up a sexy night or even a weekend, and also for honeymoons!

In a store like this I also think there should be ideas/articles/books/d vd's, etc about how to communicate about sex and all things erotic. Ideas for broaching the topic, subtle hints, suggestions for items to get to leave laying around where their partner would "find" it.

This is such a rockin' idea!!

Being "middle aged" {Yikes!} and married for over 25 years I feel that I have a lot to offer couples who have been together for a long time. I would love to do a store for people who want to find ways to spice things up, and want to try new things. I could link them to stories I have written for Cafe and possibly any new ones that I think of. Sort of a shopper's guide linked with the stories.

If I had a personal store, I'd design it around a feature like "Coveted Sex Toy of the Week" where I'd highlight a single luxury toy, write a blurb about why I wanted it, and then include links to some lower cost alternatives that are also available at Eden.

I'd do a personal store featuring the whimsical, bringing some fantasy into the bedroom and beyond.

Whether that'd be toys with cute faces (Chester and Ben, other Fun Factory toys), Tentacles, Unicorns, snakes, and other non-realistic, fun looking things, in all categories.

Where things aren't necessarily what they seem.

If I had a store, it would be something like this: Stealing the Hitachi, the focus would be an toys usually designed or thought of being only for women but can be used for a man.

Some toys make for obvious conversions (alternate name for the store perhaps?), a dildo made for vaginal use can be used for anal (as long as it has a flared base) or turning a G-spotter into a P-spotter. However, some are less obvious for example, I’m a male and my favorite toys are wand style massager typical thought of as external clit vibes. These type of my toys can trigger non-ejaculatory orgasms in some males(such as myself) opening up several possibility that would be unavailable were one to stay with only toys designed for male use. The store would be dedicated to stuff like that.Other examples could be using a duel stimulator made for vaginal /clit stimulation as an anal/perineum stimulator or a male using a strap on (say if they had erection issues) so on and so forth.

I would do a store aimed at college students and young adults. It would be focused on learning about your body, positive body image and a positive attitude towards sex. It would showcase items for beginners, and also discreet items for people who might still be living at home or at school.

Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know we're looking at all your ideas and will start getting back to you individually in the next day or so.

For a bit more inspiration, though, we're also bumping affiliate commissions by 2% for those who do create a personal store -- and we're going to accept a lot more than we initially thought - so keep putting your ideas out there!

I would absolutely love to do a "dorm friendly" store! I've spent the last 4 years figuring out what is and isn't practical for the life of the average dorm-dwelling sex toy lover. For example:

- Thin walls mean they can't sound like blenders or jackhammers!
- Communal bathrooms mean toys must be very easy to clean, often without the use of a sink. High maintenance is generally impractical.
- Again because of communal bathrooms, lubes and massage products that don't leave you feeling like you need to take a shower once you're done. Because that can be a hassle if you have to get your stuff together and run down the hall just to rinse off some lube or sticky massage oil. And if there isn't a shower free? You're out of luck.
- Many have room mates who may or may not be comfortable with you and your toys. Toys that won't be obvious if left sitting out (Hitachi, Ideal, etc massagers) are great for that; smaller toys are easier to hide than giant ones, and straight toys are easier to hide than large, oddly shaped toys (think y-shaped dildos, double dongs, realistic dildos with large balls, etc). Also, discrete storage options are necessary; too many scream "I'm hiding something naughty!" Discrete, easily hidden bondage gear fall under this category as well - under bed sets can be hidden much more easily than frames, ya know, and are much faster to hide than rope.
- For many students in dorms, the shower may be one of the only times they can get alone time for masturbation. Truly waterproof toys that will actually keep the insides of the toy dry are a must!
- Quality on a budget toys. While some college students have cash to burn on lots of expensive toys, most of us have to stick to a strict budget (or eat ramen for a while to afford that lovely dildo). These would be "best bang for your buck" toys: good quality, lots of variety if it vibrates, waterproof, versatile, sturdy, long life span, quiet... you get the picture.

I'd love to host a store for those who are adventurous and like to try new things. I'd like to get away from the traditional straight dildos and vibrators and encourage men and women to try toys that are a bit different than what they're used to. Out of the box and obscure. It fits my personality too LOL.

I love this idea! I'm stuck living in a dorm as well, and it's a definite concern with using certain toys!
