Absolutely agree! Most of the How To books I skimmed through were insulting to the recipients as well as if they aren't supposed to add any feedback and they are supposed to just lay there and enjoy. Lots of them advocate almost sneaking up on your partner like stalking a wild animal and overwhelming them....not a shared pleasure at all. I liked the gentle and loving manner the information is presented in and the techniques are also equally loving. It's just an amazing book.

That was very true of the one we read. It was highly enjoyable reading it together, and sparked a lot of conversation between us.

Jor and I haven't read how-to books together before, but we have read erotica together before. I absolutely love it because it's always inspiration about something we can do together next.

I absolutely agree. I'm a big believer in taking responsibility for your own sexual pleasure, which is something that's often overlooked in the how-to articles of women's and men's magazines. Violet goes further than the superficial tricks and tips and delves into the pleasure of both giving and receiving oral sex.

Reading some of the Cosmo comments once in awhile just makes me giggle. They suggest the oddest thing. It makes me wonder who actually comes up with some of those suggestions.

The scary part is Cosmo and the like are the only information many people are ever exposed to regarding sexual pleasure and health. I wish Violet's guides could be serialized for Cosmo and Maxim!

I've got to admit that I've never read any "How To" books like this, but reading all of the comments I might just need to get the cunnilingus book. I'd like to think I'm good at that activity, but I'm always open to finding new ways to make my wife happy.

I like the fact that Violet Blue goes into areas that most people joke about or gloss over...like how to keep your lipstick on your lips! How to make oral love to a strap-on ect.

Your comment made me realize that, like all other likes and dislikes, sex is something that changes over the course of a person's life. After being married 20 years, I know there are things I appreciate now (the quickie, for instance) that I didn't necessarily appreciate when I was younger. So advice or suggestions I might have skipped over at one point in my life are suddenly relevant and helpful!

Ha! As someone who rarely wears lipstick, I didn't even consider it an issue. However, it's those little details that make Violet's books fun and unique. I might be a lipstick convert now!

Things like that just kinda make me wonder what I'll be like after 20 years of marriage. Right now, my sexuality is still pretty young and everything. With all the kinky things I already do, I wonder what will be left in 20 years. Kinda a neat thought.

It only gets better. Truly. And no matter how much I've done/tried/experienced , I find there are always new things to learn! Of course, I'm a bit of an education geek, so maybe that's just me.

And think about what's "kinky" now that didn't even exist 20 years ago-- cyber sex, Skype sex, the availability of porn and sex toys thanks to the internet (I'd never seen glass or metal sex toys until I discovered them online!)... So who knows what sexual wonders we'll discover in another 20 years? I imagine Violet Blue will be writing about them, though!

It's true. But I honestly can't imagine anything getting more advanced than the Skype and cyber sex and everything. I mean, video calls obviously will make for some obvious changes, but aside from that, what else can sexuality honestly get into? Virtual reality porn? 'cause that'd be neat.

And she probably would be writing about them. And helping us all out with the new technology.

Just a brief comment to the younger women here...as a long time married woman of much "seasoned years"..learn as much as you can now..it will help in keeping you interested in sex, enjoying sex and being a sexual human being for the rest of your life. I know many women, my age and even younger, who have almost totally given up on sex in almost any way because they had some crazy notion that it was "natural" and that they and their partners should just automatically "know" how to do things. When it did not work out like that, they give up, frustrated. Be open, learn, teach each other, share info, practice. I have been married to my husband for almost 30 years now and the sex is getting better and better every year. But that is because we both are open with each other, teach each other, and most importantly, we allow ourselves to be taught. Never settle for mediocre. Thanks for letting me have my little say. I have a lot of admiration for people who still greatly enjoy their sex life well into life. I never had any positive role models even for healthy loving relationships so it's always a source of anxiety to me whether I can manage it (but I am consciously trying to steer the ship in that direction).

I so totally agree with the thoughts about younger men...don't let the male ego and cockiness (pardon the pun)lead you to think you know EXACTLY what or how to do something. Haha. We are ALL born ignorant and must be educated about everything...just because it is sex, it is still the same, we must be educated about it. And a smart sexually educated person is a more sexually fulfilled and fulfilling person.
