I wasn't sure where to put this, so I apologize if it's in the wrong place.
What is the difference between TPR and TPR silicone? Is there a difference? I'm just confused and the site shows it as two different things, but I was under the impression they were similar. Thanks in advance!

There's some information here: link

Hopefully that will answer your question!

(Basically, it sounds like TPR silicone is a combination of TPR and silicone, but there's a bunch of links and stuff in the post I linked.)

TPR Silicone is a rubber compound that has some Silicone in it. Just a reminder - by US laws manufacturer can call Silicone any material that has as little as 5% of pure Silicone content. You can identify such materials by odor. Pure Silicone doesn’t smell. If it has an odor that means there is another chemical presented in the material.

Yes, basically, they aren't all that different except that one has some silicone in it. But, like Pale Ada points out, the presence of silicone in a toy doesn't make it safer. Only medical grade silicone is 100% silicone.

Thought this should get a bump since I saw the issue in another forum. I think it is terrible that a toy can be called "silicone" with only a 5% content of it.

Ok, can they say 100% silicone if it is a mixture?

I know this comment doesn't really belong in this thread, but is there a reason why EF obscures links so you can't right click and open the link in a new tab? It looks like EF went to some trouble to make links in posts behave this way. Why?

I don't think they went to any trouble, I think it's just how the site is set up. Most links on the site are that way.

They did go to trouble. If you look at the source code the way the links are put in is not close to the way its normally done. Someone must have programmed that.

So if the presence of silicone doesn't make it any safer, why is TPR a 4 on the scale at EF and TPR silicone a 6??

Sorry to ask this so late: I don't believe they had numerical rankings 5 months ago.

Yes, that's the way it is programmed. My point is that so is most of the site.
