I know Don Wands came out with padded pouches for toys recently. I want to know if you spend the money buying pouches for your individual toys or make your own creations? What are some of your favorite DIY tips for fragile toys? (I have a lot of glass toys!)

My expensive glass toys are in those purple bags that EF sold a couple of years back. My less expensive glass toys are in those faux velvet sleeves that SSA Glass uses. They're all together in a container that is located where it cannot rattle or fall, and which can be reached from the bed without encountering any airspace over the floor.

Glass toys unsupervised in a truck or drawer aren't going to spontaneously shatter, and it doesn't take much fabric to keep them from clinking against one another, as long as you're careful. It's when I take them to the sink that I worry. They make that perilous journey wrapped in a towel.

Did you say DIY? No wonder my ears were ringing.

I have made a few pouches, some are padded some are not. I have a good storage space so having them padded is not really necessary.

Still, even just a layer of 1/2" foam sewn into the fabric of a simple pouch will do wonders for protection. I have even tossed the idea around of doing a Eden DIY meeting on it.

Another option would be to start with last months meeting topic (Easy and cheap to make) and add foam padding and dividers. Since the size of the box is only limited to the size of board you can purchase (11 1/2") you could make a pretty big box if you wished, in stock board lengths go up to 12 foot long. So if you made it as big as the board (11 1/2" X 12'), you could store about 90 toys as long as they were under 11" long.

Ya, I know getting crazy there. I just wanted to show what could be done. The box I made was under $15 and could easily fit four glass toys with padding.

That box looks great! I'm off to the art & craft store today. I'm going to make my own pouches and maybe lining for my storage container. I have a large footlocker from Walmart, I want to spruce up the inside.

If a toy doesn't come with a pouch, I hand sew one for it (and trust me, I've made a BUNCH!). Some glass pieces do come with pouches (SSA Glass I believe)... they're not the most protective, but I figure I don't travel with the toys, so if I'm just setting them in a drawer (where they're not moving around much), I'll leave them in those bags. For glass pieces that didn't come with a pouch, I sew pouches from old hooded sweatshirts, instead of the thinner material I use for non-glass toys. It works great!

As for storing them (and all my other toys), I bought a simple, plastic drawer tower from Wal-Mart. It was a five drawer one (with two thin drawers on top, three biggers ones on the bottom). I use it as a night stand next to my bed, though I had to take one of the top thin drawers off because the whole thing was too high to sit next to my bed. The whole thing works great though... top drawer acts as a regular night stand drawer with night stand stuff (wallet, lipbalm, random junk, my most used clit toy, etc)... the rest of my toys are divided between the bottom drawers (anal, clit, G-spot, glass, etc). It works out great, though the drawers are clear plastic... but since all my handmade pouches are black, you can't see a thing
