Looking for mens and womens input on this. Trying something completely new. Urethral plugs, vibrator etc. I need advice. My wife has wanted to do this to me for a while now and i think I'm ready to try it. What's the best way to start? Best toys, lubes, soft or erect? Does it take a few times to feel good? This is all unknown to me. Any info and advice would be appreciated! Thank you so much!

Speaking from a man’s input (and wife has also used urethral sound on me), it was pleasurable the first time for me but as with anything new it may not be as good the first time as you are just getting used to the new sensations and experience, being cautious, etc. But the sounding sensation is totally unique and great in my opinion! Definitely worth a try(or more) to see if you love it too. Sounding does require some extra precaution compared to other types of play to protect the urethra. It is generally safer for men than women as well mostly with UTI risk.
What toy to use, I highly recommend stainless steel as the smoothness and weight will help it slide in easier than silicone, but silicone is still safe as anything for urethral play MUST be non porous and sterilizable. You want to make sure you don’t start too small as that can be riskier, you actually want to start as large as you can handle with only slight ‘stretching’ sensation. 6-8mm diameter is the best to start with (~0.25-0.3” diameter). If wanting a longer sound to move in and out, get a smooth and straightish solid stainless steel sounding rod (avoid non reputable sellers as some are chrome plated other metal and not safe). For that, after sterilizing/lubing it is best to be mostly erect and on your back, letting gravity slowly lower the sound into your urethra. After that you can start manually moving it in and out more, slowly and listening to your body. Or for urethral plug, EF has a good stainless steel option Urethral ball plug!
UTI is one of main risks, so you need to sterilize your tip, the toy, hands, and use sterile lube (specific sterile lube in tubes or individual packets you can find at some stores or online, just need to make sure it’s specifically sterile like surgilube). Wipe down toy and tip of penis with alcohol wipes, hand sanitizer on hands. Then make sure to be generous with lube as urehtra does not lube itself. Then after done with session make sure to pee as soon as you can! Will sting very slightly at first but that also helps clear out.
