I'm curious on what more experienced users prefer. I've only ever tried cuffs, but ropes sound fun, especially the special knots and elaborate tying styles.

To me, it really depends on what you're going for and what you want to accomplish. Do you want it to hurt ? How much ? How secure ? Et cetera.
Some people like to be tied up in silk and get the "immobilised" feeling without much chafing / biting / discomfort.
Some would rather have the metal biting in.
Rope certainly has a lot to play around with.

Leather cuffs for me. Quick to put on, no maintenance required, and secure.
Ropes are fun, but they're so damn high maintenance.

I have yet to try any of the silk ties and am not a fan of the heavy metal ones but the fur lined and leather cuffs I do like.

i love ropes. handcuffs and leather always felt kind of tacky to me, and i love the rope imprints that are left afterwards/ the tingling in my extremities from lack of circulation

I have a set of custom leather cuffs and collar, and the specialness of them really make me happy. (I don't love to advertise other sites here but: collarfactory.com!!! awesome stuff...and no I'm not affiliated, so that is a real recommendation!)

Silk or bamboo, or silk/bamboo composite ropes. Although He likes using hemp as a central/main/ load bearing line for suspension and we may play around with other fibers in the future...
