Exploding batteries!!

Contributor: Madame Celeste Madame Celeste
I recently received the California Exotic's waterproof micro stimulator with L44 batteries included for review. After 12 minutes of use, one of the batteries literally exploded inside the toy. This was pretty disturbing given that it was inside me when it happened! Luckily, it did not break the casing and the battery acid/metals were contained. I wrote to EF and reported it as defective. They cancelled the assignment but did not personally respond to my email. This leaves me with some questions:

1) Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I wonder if toys with batteries included are to be trusted now since they are probably not stored in a way that is optimal to battery life/safety.

2) Has anyone ever had a defective product from EF and is this standard for how they handle it? I kind of felt like having a battery exploded in my coochie was worth a customer service mia copia at least.

Thanks,
MC

That's just downright scary! I've never had a battery explode, but once or twice toys have come to me with dead bullets, but I never did anything about it since I intended to replace said bullets anyway.

Yeah, that's crazy! I had a good experience when I had a defective assignment. Someone responded to my initial message and EF was very helpful with the situation. How long ago did this happen? Maybe they are figuring out the best way to respond or something.

I am sorry to hear that you had a problem with this. I have never heard of this happening with sex toys, but the process going on inside batteries is a little crazy.

As far as defective items, this is always handled on a case by case basis and usually involves 2 teams. Since this was an assignment, it makes sense that your assignment was canceled, it is possible that a response was sent and may have ended up in your spam folder (this is pretty common), but I will look into that.

Let me point out something here... it sound like the battery was the issue. The toy manufacturers do not make the batteries. So we of course don't want you to deal with anything that a battery blew up in, but it does sound like the product itself was not what was defective.

Holy crap! I've gone to use a toy before and it was corroded because I hadn't used it in so long.....Never have I had one explode in my hooha! So far no defective toys from EF and I've got a lot from them....
Here's to hoping that NEVER happens again!

I'm glad that you're okay. I haven't had it happen personally, but I've had a few friends who had batteries melt on them.

I have had amazing customer service every time I have used it, which isn't often. I had one defective toy and it was taken care of immediately. Sorry about your experiences, you do need to check your spam since for some reason the customer service replies always hit mine. Blowing up inside....OMG!! Thank goodness it was contained! I always have fresh batteries and will put them in a toy rather than use the watch batteries enclosed. Safer that way.

OMG that is scary. Happy to hear you're alright though.

I've had a couple defective toys but EF took care of it right away. I'm really happy with the customer service here. Although my defective items weren't assignments.

I've received a defective bullet, but that's the extent of it- I'm surprised they haven't sent you a personal email.

True - it was the battery that was defective not the toy. I was however using the batteries that were included which got me to thinking about how those batteries are stored and if this might be a common issue.

An update - I checked my spam folder as suggested and there was a very polite response to my email. That makes me happier with the customer service for sure. This was my first EF product/assignment so it put me off the whole thing for a bit but I am moving forward with lessons learned.

Thanks to everyone who responded. It has helped me get passed this and re-affirmed my trust in EF.
