Review program- free items

Contributor: charletnarouh charletnarouh
What is your opinion of the free items available to reviewers through the product search option in your dashboard?

Have any of you who are advanced reviewers ever chosen a free item out of the product search and actually liked it? Not talking about when they send out the items for the product descriptions and you get to try them for free or when you reach high numbers of reviews and you get the expensive toys to review, but the actually going through the product search to select an item and request it.

Second, do you actually cash in on your option for a free item every month or do you forgo it?

I'm in the mentor program so I get to pick a couple of free items to review through my mentor. The choices seemed VERY limited. I actually manage to find one that I really wanted and it got approved, so I'm very excited to get it. I can see in the future that most of my reviews will probably be from stuff I buy (with the 30% discount ) instead of trying to beat out everyone else to the newer stuff.

I usually aim to review a new toy because they tend to be better than the older ones that no one wanted to review. (For example, that's how I got my Tantus Raptor.)

And yeah, I do try to review something each month. Might as well!

I usually get clothing and enjoy them most of the time. I get something each month.

I do get my free assignment every month and get items I think I will like. I have been very pleasantly surprised by quite a few of these toys. They are usually ones I would not ordinarily purchase do to my uncertainty of their effectiveness. The free assignments every month allows me to explore these options.

I usually get items after choosing from quite a few first. I'm happy to have a chance to do the reviews and it's fun to try out new products too.

I get a free item once a month to review, but I'm trying to aim for toys and I find that if I check the box for the material...I really shorten my list of available toys. I've only been disappointed once through a free review and that was the apron I reviewed.
Hopefully the vibrator I'm getting this month will make up for that one!

I'm not an advanced reviewer yet though I have a mentor who by the way is really great. I have gotten two widgets/ items so far and I have done a review on both (one just got turned in a few hours ago) as well as a product my husband got me back in April and one that I got way back when I first got married. I really have enjoyed writing my reviews as well as trying the products out. I have only received one product that I really didn't care for though my husband likes it very much. I have been able to try out widgets/ products that I would have never have bought myself. Because of E.F. and it's community my husband and I have been able to explore each other better as well as ourselves.

The only thing that I have had a problem with is that there are so many items that fit the two or less review criteria and are under the $30.00 dollar cash limit, however they are not available for purchase. I have had my product alerts on for these products for some time now so I beg your pardon on asking what is up with that?

My monthly review is usually lingerie, normally the toys I want already have the number of limited reviews on them. Sometimes I ask for push assignments from the product page that you're talking about if it looks like something I will want to try. Sometimes the administrators will push assignments to me that I'll take.

Push assignments? I'm not sure I know what you're talking about.

Yeah, I'm newly advanced and I'm curious too. Is that what the products that come up in the product search but say "not available for purchase" are?

If you are talking about the monthly assignments that we may request according to the pricing guidelines, then yes, I always get mine. Normally, I choose a lingerie piece. Sometimes this works out well, and sometimes it doesn't. But it is free, so it is okay if it doesn't work out well. Actually, it is more than okay, as that means I get to warn off others about a piece that they may not want to spend their money on.

I write reviews on every single thing I get off EF and would like to review more! I even write secondary reviews on my blog, as well as reviews and testimonials about the site. One very BIG complaint I have is navigating through all of the products in your 'Products Search' in your dashboard. Navigate through pages adding things, then finally when you're done you go to make your requests and everything is taken. That's all well and good that all those people are contributing, but if it is unavailable, it should be taken off the search list. I would be happy to do this job myself if need be to get it done. I would rather see an empty list than a full one full of nothing I can get. Don't get me wrong. I love toys and writing reviews about them so much that I buy out review items to review them, even down to the free gifts I get with my order! I am DESPERATE for reviews! I wish it were more simpler times. Maybe alert us when new toys will be available??

Thanks!!

as far as the 'not available for purchase' items, they may be out of stock or not on the market yet. Your review could determine weather or not it does.

I have found a number of free items to review by using the product search and I've liked most of them. I try to choose things that I would actually use and also, something in a category I feel I'm knowledgeable about. I don't use the option every month though.
