What would you do if someone found your toys?

Contributor: sillylilkitten sillylilkitten
It could be anyone, a friend, a family member, someone you hardly know. How would you react? Would it cause real problems? Has this already happened to you?

For me, it would depend on who found them. If it was anyone but my family, I would just laugh it off and tell them that's what they get for snooping. But if my family found them, it would be really really embarrassing and awkward. My family isn't against sexual stuff, but we don't talk about it at all and we just keep it to ourselves.

I've told my friends, my family has seen the boxes and they know what is in them.

I'd probably laugh about it, because if they see them then they were looking for them.

Mine are all locked away in a box, so I would be right pissed if anyone managed to go to trouble of finding the key and opening it. My dad would be very upset, but I think for just about anyone else it would be more awkward than anything.

It has happened and it was family -- teenage kids. It happens because all the kids in my family refuse to respect people's privacy. In fact, it happened TODAY when my rabbit just came and I had opened it. Two nights ago, one of them picked up a hidden OhMiBod box (that houses Freestyle) that was hidden under my vanity and said "can I open this?" I tried pretending I didn't hear, but he kept on, so finally, I said "Look, you really don't wanna see what's in there." That does the trick for the moment, but they are SO nosey! This was the 14 year old. The 13 year old doesn't care. You have to chase him down or yell to get him to not open boxes or look in the closets and stuff.

You're right -- that is what people get for snooping! That's how I feel. If you snoop and find my dirty stuff, then I guess you'll be the one feeling all embarrassed or whatever because at this point in my life, I refuse to feel embarrassed for having sex stuff. Big deal. We shouldn't have to feel embarrassed.

Once, my partner and I were using a new vibrator when my mom came by and the damn thing fell off the bed and into the floor right in front of her and the both of us when we were standing there talking! I thought it was securely under a cover when we heard her come by. She was standing at the door. She didn't say anything, but that's how she is. She won't bug you about things. She's always believed in respecting others' privacy and she wouldn't try to make me feel funny about it, so she'd just pretend she saw nothing. I do the same for her. Plus, it doesn't bother me that she has them and she isn't bothered that I do. We just leave it private though.

I don't mind my other family like my sisters seeing my stash at all. I show them my stash. In fact, my twin sister was in the room with me right after I opened the bunny I got today and we were admiring it when one of the kids came busting in. He saw it laying on the bed we were sitting on and laughed and said "Oh my God!" I ignored it. Don't bust in without knocking. I've warned them that one day they were going to regret busting in on me and they'd end up seeing something that would scar them. They don't listen, so there they go! LOL.

I agree. It's hard not to feel embarrassed. Goodness! If it were my grandmother, I'd be humiliated! She'd even ask what it was too! Lol. Another time, a close-ish family friend came over and again, it was my twin and I sitting on my bed admiring a rabbit vibe I had bought for her & she came in and saw it there. She said "hey what are ya'll up . .. DILDO!!!" Hahaha. It was funny and she's the kind of person we can just laugh over it about, but there aren't many people who don't do the whole "omg! You sick thing you!" So I keep them hidden when possible.

All of my family lives far away. Even so, I make sure all my toys are safely stashed away when not in use.

I think the situation changes depending on your relationship status. As a married couple, I wouldn't feel guilty at all about having them. It really would be "thanks for snooping"

There's nothing dirty about sex toys.

It happened when I was 18 and left for college. I forgot my sex toys and my mom threw them away (or took them and used them...I hope it's the former.) All I know is they weren't there when I got back. Since my husband and I now live by ourselves, it isn't a problem.

I'd probably be a little embarrassed, but I live by myself so that hasn't happened yet.

The only people I would have a hard time with would be my children. It would be difficult to explain it to them since they are so young, and I don't want them to be traumatized by anything like that.

I'd probably show them the sites I review for and explain why I chose the products I did. Anyone who disapproves of my hobbies or lifestyle probably wouldn't be invited into my house anyway. When it comes to talking about sex I am kinda shameless.

Kids are rarely traumatized by things you don't find shameful. If they discover your stash just be matter of fact that these are Mommy's toys and they are not for children to play with. That stopped my kids from snooping and satisfied their curiosity. It was just something that was part of life.

If, however, you act like they have discovered something truly embarrassing and horrifying then they WILL be traumatized. Hell my husband and I practiced how we would react a few times and our three kids don't even blink when a package comes in now. He will just say, "It's your Mom's" and they just wander off.

Depends who it is...I guess I would just deal with it when/if it ever happened. Never has before.

I hope I never find a friend of mine's toy and as far as my daughters well they show me their toys or nighties and things and they tell me WAY WAY TOO MUCH! LOL

LMAO, I have teenagers also. They have done the same types of things to me. One time I had asked my 18 year old son to help me bring my over night bag in,he gave me a funny look and stated, "mom, your bag is vibrating, I'm not even going to ask"!!!!!!!

It would depend on who. Adult family, some laugh with them, others Like grandchildren or very religious members of my family; I just don't let it happen. Friends, well we would have a good laugh and a healthy discussion about the toys themselves.

I am pretty sure that my mother has found my toys before. There was one day that I had a large collection of toys drying on a towel in my bedroom. When I came home, the towel was gone, like it was just yanked out.

Now, at the time, my room was really cluttered (I was in the process of moving, so there were boxes everywhere), so there's a chance that she might not have realized what they were, but... she probably did.

She never said a word about it though, and I never asked her.

But, if someone found them and admitted they found them? I'm not sure. I'd be mortified if my dad found them, because he would make a TON of jokes, especially with as large as my collection is. My mom wouldn't be so bad though, because her basic view is that it's none of her business, even though she thinks that toys are disgusting.

I'd probably laugh. I'm an adult. Who cares if I own sex toys?

Oh, I wouldn't act like there was something wrong with what I have. Just thinking about the realistic things and the questions that could possibly follow. That's what I could be concerned about...especially knowing that the two oldest would probably report back to their father about it, which would be truly awkward. Okay...maybe I'd be traumatized by it!

It depends on the person. I'd rather nobody other than my partner and friends that are into sex toys see them.

Wow, kendra has such a crazy life, it sounds like a sitcom. Only it would be a sitcom that I'd watch because it's all about girls and dildos apparently, lol.

My siblings would probably think I'm a gross perv no big deal, but my parents might think I'm a deviant and need therapy.

My friends all know. More often, they're interested rather than disgusted. A few of my friends are embarrassed to talk about sex, and they'd be mortified if they found my toys. Most are pretty open-minded. Some I've referred to EdenFantasys...

The kids found some of our toys when they were in their early teens. We never mentioned it - and after a few months they found there way back to where they belonged. No harm - no foul.
