Would you buy toys at a pharmacy?

Contributor: Rin (aka Nire) Rin (aka Nire)
The pharmacy near my house was renovated some months ago, mostly widening the aisles and improving on how things were organized. One major change I noticed the other day, though, was the area where the sexual items were kept.

Before, condoms and lube were all kept in a small, locked case, so you had to ask for them, and the selection was very small. Now there's a big, open shelf and you can just grab what you need and the selection, while still not fantastic, is a lot bigger than it was. Imagine my surprise, though, when on the top shelf they now had a few traditional vibrators and some cock rings!

Now, obviously Eden is where I go for most of my quality supplies, but I'm stoked that if one of my traditional vibes dies on me I can just take a quick walk to get one if I don't want to wait for shipping. Would anyone else go to a pharmacy to get a cheap toy, if one near you sold them? Would you be too embarrassed? Or are you just patient enough to keep buying from here?

Interesting - I might check it out.

Probably not, but it's good to have the option.

Toys, no. Lubes and/or condoms, yes.

I'd never get any sexual supplies from a pharmacy.

Only if it wasn't in my hometown.

The plural of "octopus" is "octopodes." (Rin's standard wacky "other" option.)

Eden has the best prices, reviews, and the points program so I wouldn't buy a toy these, but if we're out of condoms we've gotta get some somewhere!

I wouldn't get any sex toys at pharmacies, simply because I know they are cheap and usually dominated by a few big-name brands, like K-Y, Durex, Trojan, etc.

I am not a fan of cheap sex toys. I've tried those brands listed above, and I wouldn't get anything from them again.

Probably not, but not because I'm embarrassed. I have no issues walking up with a vibrator. LOL The issue for me is that the quality of what a pharmacy is selling is probably very low. Usually the only lube is K-Y and some other equally awful alternatives. I'd hate to see what the actual toy options would be. If I was in a bind and HAD to have a vibrator rightthissecond and no sex shop was open, I guess desperate times call for desperate measures. Otherwise, I'll be avoiding.

Nope. I'd not buy the cheap kind. To me that would just be a waste of money.

If they sold quality toys and lube at a price comparable to EF (tack on and extra 25 to 30USD per shipment for shipping cost) I probably would buy toys at my local pharmacy.

Interestingly enough, while K-Y is still the dominant brand of lube, I also saw Wet Synergy there, among others. I'm not a fan of it myself, but it was a bit of a surprise to see it being sold outside of a sex shop.

You do have a fair point about quality, though. I don't expect much from the vibes there, but I just really like knowing that the option's there. Plus it's the first time I've ever seen vibes being sold anywhere other than Spencer's or sex shops, so my mind was kind of blown.

We have a significant collection of toys, but I do not recall purchasing any of them at a pharmacy.

My big question is: can I get it to last more than a few months? I have two traditionals that were very cheap and are still alive and strong after almost four years, so for me "cheap" doesn't necessarily mean "bad."

Though of course there's also personal preference involved. They're not my favorites, but I like plastic traditional vibes just fine What I might do is just grab one next time I'm there and report my findings.

It'd be nice, but not sure I would- depends on what they carry. *shrugs*

Only if the pharmacy started to carry Jopen and Je Joue products. I still go there for condoms, but for now, the sex toy collection is disappointing.

I think some of the pharmacies around here have the Wet now that you mention it. I used to like the Wet Platinum a lot. Never seen that at a pharmacy before and have moved on to things that don't make me burn as much. lol

I'd rather go to a sex shop and have more options!

I don't think I'd buy toys unless there was a self-check-out, but I might buy lube.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I love EF tremendously, and I don't think I'll ever stop buying here. And I'm not exactly in danger of having all my vibes die at once. But I like having as many options as I can, y'know?

Though truly, if I had a sex shop that wasn't a bus and subway ride away, I'd go there instead to get stuff I needed quickly.

Although that's a cool idea, I think I'd be too embarrassed. Part of the reason I love shopping on eden for my toys is that there's no person I have to check out with and see what my purchases are. There's a total privacy that I like

Nopenopenope. I buy condoms online specifically to avoid dealing with people that do not need to know anything about my sex life (and to get a better deal/better quality, etc). I would only buy condoms at a pharmacy in an emergency, nothing else.

I probably wouldn't buy one (when am I going to be without my current collection?), but the option is nice.
