Deeper 2 by Digital Playground - review by Shadowfall

I'll start off with this: Deeper 2 ended up on my radar because I was looking for adult movies that weren't full of creampies and facials—all that seems to dominate the genre these days. On that front, Deeper delivers to a fair extent, but we'll get back to that in a moment because I can't allow you satisfaction just yet, can I?

Quick Summary
Deeper 2 consists of five vignettes of varying levels of kinkiness and absolutely no plot (I won't say this is a plus or a minus—it just is). There are five scenes total: one m/f, one m/f/m, one f/f/m, and two more m/f scenes. Bonus features include a bonus scene that I forgot to watch and a cumshot replay, so you can see all the cumshots from the movie without watching the actual action (if that's your thing—not really mine, but thought it was a nice touch). No obnoxious trailers for products, movies, don't steal this production, etc., leading into the menu—just two quickies. The opening sequence was short, sweet, and tastefully done. The rest of the film was lackluster—scroll to the end for why.

First scene
Starting off easy, we see Teagan Presley pick up the phone while with her boyfriend. Throughout the scene, she pretends to be holding a conversation with her mother while trying not to let her boyfriend's actions (and her reactions) through to her mom on the other end of the phone. What makes this remarkable is that I found myself thinking, "Okay, while the premise is a bit dumb, damn she can act!" Which is more or less the most I can say for the scene—it was a fairly standard scene, overlaid with effects to increase the artsy feel to the clip, and the music...oh, god, the music...I'll get there quickly.

Second scene
Sativa Rose (I think?) with two guys. Zero dialogue and revolves around the two guys and her looking at erotic polaroids and then having sex. Kudos go to the director of this scene for producing an interesting and hot scene—part of me wanted to know what the setup to the scene was, and the rest of me just enjoyed how hot the action was.

Third scene
Two women and a guy, semi-kitten play. Actually pretty neat little clip, if slightly lackluster or cliche. Still, good, except for the editors...

Fourth scene
Fourth scene is, quite frankly, uncomfortable for me to watch. Really uncomfortable age play, though I don't know what made it so uncomfortable.

Final scene
The final scene...okay, I'll be honest here. I watched the DVD twice. The final scene SHOULD have been the one I found most appealing. Latex nurse. Hospital scene (okay, not really my kink, but it ties into others, so I'll go for it). Straight up sex, with some minor kink toys (mainly a neuro wheel, if you know what that is). And yet, after watching the fourth scene the second time, I couldn't bring myself to re-watch this scene. It was simply too much to handle. Watch it on its own—not with the rest of the film.

Cumshots
With the exception of the second scene, exclusively shoot-at-mouth money shots, so no real facials. The second scene was interesting, with both guys jerking off onto polaroids held by the actress, who licked the cum off.

Why was the movie such a disappointment? Someone decided to get creative in the cutting room and added a bunch of bad music and creative video overlays that ultimately detract and distract from what otherwise would be a decent flick. With bad sound loops that DO NOT END and really bad video filters, it's a constant distraction from the action. If this isn't a problem for you, then awesome! Go for it.

I just could not take this movie. I looked forward to it so much, only to be severely let down when I actually received it. Maybe because I had built it up in my mind, it was doomed to fall short, but honestly, even then it shouldn't have fallen this short of expectations. There's no reason for it; if the artistic effects had been kept to a minimum and if the music loops weren't so obnoxious and/or filtered out and back in, it would have been better. As it was, I was pretty sure that the soundtrack was made in an automated program and no one ever bothered to check or edit the soundtrack. Likewise with the irritating video effects—scene two is the hands down #1 victim of this, as the overlay is something I'd expect in a DVD menu with a binary ticker at the bottom, a moving grid, and various other moving items to make it feel more digital (just guessing).

It should not take a rocket scientist to make erotic videos...but clearly, the editors needed someone to proof their work before it went off to be mastered and pressed.
