Body Heat by Digital Playground - review by Kindred

On a recent episode of Oprah, a sex therapist recommended porn as a way for couples to spice up their relationship. We have not watched porn in over 20 years, but my wife and I thought it might be fun to watch one of the 21st century. I requested Body Heat as an assignment, but we weren’t quite sure what to expect. The movie did not disappoint. Body Heat (2 hours and 20 minutes), produced by Digital Playground and directed by Robby D., was very entertaining. The overall quality of the film surprised us; cinematography, lighting, staging, make-up, and costumes were all well done. There was a plot with suspense, drama, and even humor. The story revolves around a group of firefighters in downtown LA who must find a way to save their firehouse after it is sold to a developer, Cash Gates. There is even a subplot to the movie: a bomber who is determined to stop the development of the neighborhood. The one area we felt the movie did not execute well was sound quality. In more than one scene, we had to strain to hear the dialogue.

The story begins with a call to diffuse a bomb located in a vacant lot owned by Gates. The sex starts quickly as Kayden Kross and Manuel Ferrara get it on in the back of the ambulance on the way to the scene. It was one long ride, with the couple engaging in oral and PIV sex in multiple positions, sometimes getting a bit rough but with good chemistry between the two. And it’s a good thing the sex was so good. When reaching the lot, Manuel is sent in to diffuse the bomb. After a few tense moments in a scene inspired by The Hurt Locker, he appears to successfully diffuse the bomb only to have a secondary bomb explode. Who knew there was such tragedy in porn?

Following the loss, a psychologist, Raven Alexis, is brought in to help the crew mourn the loss of their friend and crewmate. There is a lull in the action as the plot and characters are developed. Raven has a therapy “session” with Tommy Gunn, who reveals he is excited by figures of authority, even mother figures, and Raven can’t help herself, leading to a scene with lots of oral and PIV sex. There is an almost identical scene later in the movie involving Raven and Mick Blue, who happens to also reveal that he fantasizes about authority figures. A similar sex scene ensues, but honestly who cares, it was still hot!

The action picks up at this point, with sex coming more frequently. The crew has the idea to raise money by washing the fire truck in bikinis and trunks for tips. When this fails to raise any real money, Riley Steele decides to take action by paying the developer a visit. When talking gets her nowhere, she resorts to shrewd negotiating tactics and drops her pants. This leads to a memorable threesome when the developer’s assistant, Bridgette B., joins in the fun. This 16 minute scene featured oral every which way, PIV in multiple positions, tit fucking, girl on girl, and even some tit slapping. This was by far my wife’s favorite scene.

Three minutes later, another sex scene happens, this time on top of the fire truck. Jesse Jane can’t even wait to take her clothes off as Scott Nails pounds her. It’s not a long scene, but there is one very impressive acrobatic move by Jesse as she does a standing vertical split as Scott fucks her from behind.

While those two are on the fire truck, Captain Katsuni heads to the men’s locker room. She has just learned from Raven that two of her crew have a thing for authority figures, not the doctor but the captain. Katsuni finds Tommy and Evan in the showers, saunters in, drops the bar of soap, and drops to her knees. This is another threesome scene that features a lot of oral and variations of PIV sex.

Of course the movie has a happy ending. The firehouse is saved when Cash Gates decides to sign the deed to the firehouse over to Katsuni. He is moved by the heroics of her crew when they risk their own lives to save his from a burning building, a fire that is started after the bomber lures Cash there to kill him. To celebrate, Captain Katsuni invites all the ladies to have some fun together. What ensues is a 5 woman orgy with them hanging all over the fire truck. Almost fifteen minutes of girl on girl on girl action, upside down, legs in the air, even hanging from the ladders. It’s a great ending to a good movie. Or is it? The movie ends as we watch the bomber carry a gas can in another building. Body Heat 2 anyone? I know we’re in!

Now that we've had the chance to watch a few more movies to compare to, I think we've grown to appreciate Body Heat even more. Despite the few flaws, it's a high quality production with enjoyable sex scenes. In retrospect, we would now give this movie 5 stars.
