Mr. It keychain - gags discontinued by Pipedream - review by Jul!a

A very naughty twist on Cousin It, Mr. It comes to you looking like his long hair is covering everything except for his nose, which happens to be a penis.

Mine came individually from a friend, so the packaging I got is going to differ from what you get buying the set of 12. But everything else is going to be the same, except for the fact that I only have one color. If you buy the set of 12, you get not only the yellow Mr. It, but also a magenta, a green, and an orange.

My yellow Mr. It is made up of a pair of googly eyes, a penis shaped nose, and lots of long yellow elastic hair, all attached to a keychain in a manner than looks like he pinned his bangs back to keep them out of his face. The penis itself sticks out about 1 1/4", and is held in place by being glued to a chunk of 'hair.' His eyes are also glued to a chunk of 'hair' as well as the top of the plastic penis. Every color appears to have the same yellow backplating for the eyes, mine just happens to match. Now for the hair, remember those Koosh balls Rosie O'Donnel kept flinging out into her crowd? Mr. It's hair is exactly like that, right down to the ability to snap back and sting a finger if it's not careful while playing.

Mr. It himself is about 3 1/2" long. With the chain and key ring, he totals about 5 1/2" long. So he definitely won't be the most subtle of keychains out there (although with brightly colored hair and a penis for a nose were you expecting anything else?), but he won't take up all that much room either.

As far as his quality goes, lifespan still depends on how rough you are with him. If you're really rough, leaving him to live in the bottom of your purse all the time, you might lose the nose/eyes combination, leaving you with a keychain of Koosh ball hair. Either way, he should last you a while unless you're intentionally really rough with him.

Just like the little penis light, Mr. It does live on my keys now, and I'm fairly abusive, so we'll see how long he lasts. He did also get passed around at Denny's at the same time as the penis light (being on the same set of keys and all), and while he couldn't help me get into my car any faster, he did amuse our waitress greatly. The only downside I've found to him is that his hair likes to get all tangled up in surrounding keys/chains.

The pricing for the whole set of 12 made me a little nervous about buying the whole set of 12, but after getting a chance to play with one on it's own, I started to change my mind. After doing the math, you're paying about $2.33 for each keychain if you buy the whole set. I'd say decide if you would pay that for one individually, and then make up your mind on the set from there. It's a pretty decent price in my opinion, and would make a great gag gift as well.

I guess that's not entirely true, because I'm quite impressed with it. It's been on my keys a year and a few days, and in that time, it's gotten quite icky looking. I may retroactively knock a star off, but realistically, this is a gag gift and held up very well over that time. A year is a lot longer than people normally keep gag keychains (in my experience). There's a lot of tangles, the yellow has picked up a fair bit of dirt, and the breaking point for removal was actually discovering what felt like gum or something else clumped in the "hair" but it's actually the "hair" itself. It had a good run, and I'm happy with the time I got from it.
