A Royal Blue Pain in the Ass (For beginners, that is!)

On the larger size for true beginners. Beautiful color. Easy to control with the wide ring attached to the base. Exceptionally easy to clean. Great for solo use or with a partner.

Cobalt is a BEAUTIFUL butt plug, especially in natural light! I was so excited to receive it because of its color alone. However, after opening up the package, I was shocked by the size! I am kind of a wimp when it comes to butt toys, I suppose...
Although I have never had much trouble with anal with my fairly large (approximately 7" long, 1.75" wide) partner (a couple of dabs of coconut oil, and he's in within a minute or two without struggle), I absolutely failed at getting this bad boy in on my own. I am unsure if that is a me-thing, though, as I bought the Anal Training Kit from Eden as well and ended up passing out in my bathroom: a disgraceful, soaking-wet mess from having attempted to put it in straight out of the shower. On the other hand, I have other toys I have used for anal that have worked just fine. I likely just have a very temperamental bum!

The Cobalt is tapered for easy insertion; however, the tip is quite blunt compared to other steel/metal or silicone plugs, making it a little harder to get inside if you aren't entirely ready for it. This is common with glass toys because of the way they are made. For me, although this is a very smooth material, it meant that I took quite a while to get it in and made it somewhat uncomfortable to get started. Once in, it leaves you feeling very full, especially if you aren't already a butt-toy enthusiast.

FOR MY TRUE BEGINNERS:
If you have never tried anal or using an anal toy by yourself, this might be way too intimidating for you! Silicone or other soft materials are definitely the way to go for those just starting out. Tiny Booty Gem is perfect for someone curious and who just wants to try experimenting with butt-play. I recommend the Black Rose Glass Plug instead if you are looking for something else of the same material. Not only is it so, SO pretty, but also much smaller with a nice, tiny insertion point to ease it in. If you don't mind metal, Precious Heart or Little Treasure are both good alternatives and perfectly sized for beginners. Be aware that metal is often heavy. And for my beginners that still like a bit of a challenge, the Heavy Metal Pacifier starts with a nice, thin insertion point that bulbs out a little more than the aforementioned plugs to make you feel very full or to prepare you and your butt for that special someone.

Cobalt is made of sturdy borosilicate glass, meaning that it won't shatter if I drop it on the floor. To anyone with any concerns at ALL about this material, please do not worry! It is designed for the very purpose of going inside your body and is a SOLID piece of glass, not hollow, meaning that it can't shatter from the pressure of your innards. Seriously, unless your ass can press carbon into diamonds, you ain't breaking this guy with it. If you could exert that much pressure on carbon with just your bum, you wouldn't feel it even if you did crush it because that's a damn lot of pressure!

Glass is one of my favorite materials because it is so easy to sanitize! It is smooth and does not harbor bacteria. You can wash it quite easily with just soap and water, bleach if you prefer, or even boil it!
That means that if you like, you can share your toy with someone else, no worries at all. It will not retain a smell as silicone sometimes can. In turn, you do have to keep it wrapped up if storing with other glass toys as they will clink, though likely not scratch each other. They are also heavier than other soft toy materials, meaning that if you're hauling a load of them around in a luggage bag to the airport or just to your favorite hotel with one of your lovers, it'll be a lot to carry.

Again, no taste, no smell, very smooth, and very easy to clean. Glass is wonderful! After all, if it wasn't so very durable, why do we use it daily for drinking and eating?

Design / Shape / Size

size

Cobalt is fairly bulbous at the tip, and although tapered, is somewhat hard for a nervous beginner to get in (eager, not-nervous beginners, proceed as you wish). Once the tip is inserted, though, it is so smooth and gradual that it should pop fully in without much effort, given that you've lubed up.

In terms of size, it might be a bit big and intimidating if you're just getting into toys. I know that if I travel to my local Spencer's and take a look at their silicone plugs and use them as a reference point, the Cobalt would frighten the heck out of me! Though, I should assure you that most people accept this size just fine and even prefer it. Do note that as glass has no give in it whatsoever, a silicone toy of the same size would not feel nearly as big.

The handle on this baby makes it very easy to remove and control once it's inside you. It can also be used as a lot more than just a means of withdrawal. String a rope or leash on it and give it a few light teasing tugs. Or, if you're both ready for it, yank it out. Great for pet-play. Twist it around for a completely new sensation. Very fun if you know what to do with it!

Overall, a typical butt plug shape with an easy-to-use handle that makes it look a little more unique to other items on the market. I personally love the ring for the reasons above but note that this also means it is an indoors-only toy. That is, you cannot put this guy in and expect to walk around town. It just pokes out way too much! During vaginal, if this toy is inserted, your partner may also bump into it. This can actually be quite pleasurable, though if they are too rough, can be uncomfortable. Even if used forcefully, this toy is very unlikely to slip inside you and get lost. The flared base keeps it within bounds, and if that manages to fail (which it surely won't unless you were being deliberate), the ring will also keep it from going further in.

Performance

As I mentioned before, the toy works great as a butt plug but can be a little hard to get started. It also does work vaginally, as many toys do! However, there is a little sensation to be had when thrust because the toy is so smooth, and it could potentially harm the cervix because it is a hard material.

It is entirely manual and can be twisted for extra pleasure. I love having it lightly tugged on, and because the ring handle makes it so easy to do just that, it is a favorite! Eventually, I am going to have to convince my male partner to try it as well and see his opinion, as it apparently hits the P-spot quite well.

Care and Maintenance

Extremely easy to clean; can clean most any way you desire. Bleach, boiling, cleaning solution, or just good soap and water all work extremely well. The material is very smooth, so there shouldn't be an issue in ensuring it is sterile. So safe that it can be lent to a friend if they're cool with that.
    • Easy to clean

Packaging

It comes in a red velvet bag. Not much else to say! The bag is not super-amazing, extreme, high-quality, or fantastic, but it is not exceptionally cheap either. It will last for a good while and keep my toy very safe so that it does not bang against my other glass toys.
