Mood kinky tickler - beads by Doc Johnson - review by Ryuson

An alright toy for beginners

While this is a very unique idea, I don't think it's going to catch on. Its weak vibrations don't travel up the beads, and the fact that you have to pull the strand across your vaginal opening to get the bullet to your clit seems like a bacteria superhighway. It is made of good materials and is a good design for beginners, but just isn't something I can recommend.
Easy to use, good for beginners, several settings, good materials.
Unsanitary design, vibrations don't travel to beads, weak, rigid, lint magnet.

The Mood Kinky Tickler is a mix between a strand of anal beads and a bullet vibrator with 'ears' on it. This is a bit of a strange combination, but depending on how you want to use this toy, it might work very well.

The main use of this toy is for anal insertion. Anal beads aren't meant to be thrust, but to be inserted and slowly removed. You also can insert these and wear them during vaginal intercourse, which can make things more intense for the wearer and their partner.

While you can insert these vaginally, they're an awkward shape and don't feel particularly nice. If you want a toy to use vaginally, something that's more shaft-shaped would be a better bet.

The bullet with ears on the base is good for dual stimulation. You can use it to stimulate your balls/perineum if you're a male wearing these, and you can also draw it forward and use it clitorally if you're female-bodied.

This toy CAN be used only externally, but it's a bit long and bulky to use like that. If you're super inclined to just use the bullet bit, it can be used on the clit, nipples, and other external erogenous zones.

If you are a couple looking for your first anal toy to use together, this would be an all right choice. It can be worn during intercourse, but the bullet has to be turned sideways, so that kind of defeats the purpose. It might be better to get a more basic anal toy if you want to use it as a couple.

If you want a first anal toy in general, this would be okay. It's not phallic, and the first two beads are very small, allowing you to work yourself up to the larger ones. It's also a good material, but it might be better to start with a pair of anal beads that don't have a bulky, vibrating toy on the end.

This toy would be 100% fine to use in the dorms. While it's a bit long, it can be balled up and stored in a small drawer. It's quiet and waterproof, meaning that it can't be heard over the showers or through the door if you live with others.

Material / Texture

This toy is made of silicone and plastic. These are both good materials, especially for anal toys, because they're safe and easy to care for. The colored portions of this toy are made of silicone, and the white bullet is is made of plastic.

Silicone is rated a 10 out of 10 on the Eden Safety Scale. It's nonporous and body safe, meaning that it won't leak gross chemicals into your body and doesn't harbor bacteria under the surface. You can boil silicone to disinfect it.

Plastic is rated an 8 out of 10 on the Eden Safety Scale. It's also nonporous and body safe, but you can't boil plastic because it will melt. To disinfect plastic, it's best to wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution.

While silicone is known for being very soft and plush, the silicone this toy is made of is quite firm. You can certainly bend the beads around in a circle, but the beads themselves are hard and have no give to them. This makes them a bit harder to insert than if they were a bit softer.

The antennae on the tip of the bullet are very flexible. They also carry the vibrations from the toy well. If you want a lot of pressure these won't be for you, but they can be bent apart to be placed on either side of the clitoris.

While this toy doesn't have a lot of drag to it, and isn't at all sticky or tacky, whenever you insert anything anally you should use lube. Lube is especially important if you aren't used to anal play or you're trying to insert something larger than you're used to, as it prevents tearing and soreness after play.

There is no texture on this toy at all, though there are a few bulges and ridges on the 'tickler' portion. This toy would be fine to use if you dislike textures, especially since there is no texture on the insertable portion.

Silicone and plastic are great materials for both beginners and advanced users. The firmness of this particular silicone toy does make it a bit easier to insert the beads, but it does mean it's more rigid inside of you, and you should be a bit more cautious than when using a more flexible set of anal beads.

Design / Shape / Size

This toy is quite unique in design. It's a bullet with 'ears' that is connected to a strand of anal beads. While this isn't a game changer, and isn't entirely better than 'old fashioned' anal beads, it's an interesting concept.

The Mood Kinky Tickler is 9.5 inches long in total, with 7.5 of those being insertable. The widest bead is 2.5 inches around. If you're used to having anal sex, this is much longer and much thinner than the average penis.

If you're just starting out with anal play, it's a good assumption that you won't be able to insert over half a foot of anal beads your first go. The reason that these go from small beads to large beads is to allow yourself to get comfortable with the girth and length, working your way up the strand over time.

The 'tickler' portion of this toy is about 4 inches long. If the strand of beads is inserted right up to it, you might not be able to get this to reach your clitoris/balls, but the last bead ends with some strand to spare, so you can leave the largest bead in and flex the vibrator to where it needs to be.

Because of the design, these beads really aren't meant to be worn out and about like some plugs. Not only are they long and firm, possibly making them very uncomfortable, but the tickler wouldn't be comfortable to sit on.

If you leave this out on your desk, it's very obvious that it's a strand of anal beads, and if questioned there's not much else that you could pass this toy off as. It is an okay design for traveling, but would be a bit big to toss into a purse or overnighter.

Because of the design, this would be good for beginners and moderate users. It's not going to thrill anyone used to larger or longer toys, but this is a good place to start warming up to the feeling of anal penetration.

This toy has a small vibrating bullet in the tickler portion that has quite a few functions. It's not the best, but it does help to add a bit of external stimulation to the anal bead experience.

The toy is controlled entirely by one button on the base of the bullet. This it the part of the toy that faces your back. You press this button once to turn it on, and press it again to change functions. Once you cycle past function 10 it goes back to the first setting. The settings are as follows:

1) Low (1 bee, 1 vroom)
2) Medium (1 bee, 1.5 vrooms)
3) High (1 bee, 2 vrooms)
6) bbBBbbBBbbBBbbBB
10) bzzzzzzzzzzz bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Once you cycle all the way around, it begins back at setting number one. In order to turn this toy off, you hold the button down for two seconds. When you turn it back on it starts back on the low setting.

While the clitoral vibrations of this toy are a nice addition to the anal experience, they are weak and buzzy. The power of the bullet alone isn't going to be enough to get most women off, but it may aid in coming to orgasm from the anal stimulation.

The vibrations also can't be felt in the beads. Anal vibrators are good for getting vibrations to your prostate or vaginal walls, but this toy won't do that. The beads vibrate little more than they would if they didn't have a bullet attached to them.

This toy is entirely waterproof, so it can be a bath or shower companion. This also make it easy to clean, because there's no worry about getting the motor wet or soapy. This toy is quiet enough that it can't be heard over the shower or across the room.

While this toy is quiet and has a lot of settings, the bullet is lacking in power. It may be a better idea to invest in a bullet to use clitorally with a separate pair of anal beads than try and make this toy work for you. The low power levels would be good for more sensitive users.

Care and Maintenance

The Mood Kinky Tickler is very easy to clean, but it is a bit of a pain to store. This toy is a total lint and dust magnet, so it's best to always wash this both before and after each use. You can wash this toy with soap and water, an antibacterial toy cleaner, or a toy wipe. There aren't any crevices that have proven a problem to clean.

You can also disinfect this toy. You can wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution, or if you want to really clean the insertable portion, you can dip the beads into boiling water for a few minutes. If you dip the beads into hot water, make sure to not let the plastic portion get too hot. This toy should be disinfected every time you switch users to prevent the spread of bacteria and infection.

The lack of flexibility in this toy makes it a bit tough to store. It can be laid flat, but if you curl it up it can fit into a small space if there's something to keep it from springing back into shape. Silicone should not be stored in contact with other silicone toys because the two could possibly react. Similarly, silicone lube should not be used on silicone toys.
    • Difficult to store
    • Easy to clean

The Mood Kinky Tickler comes in basic packaging that seems to be universal for the Doc Johnson Mood line. It's not particularly high end, but it is cute and appealing to look at. It's not good for storage, because it's hard to open and larger than the toy itself.

The front of the packaging has a clear window where the toy is visible. There is a piece at the top of the front that states the name of the toy, and the bottom of the front states that it has 10 functions and is made of silicone.

The back of the packaging consists of many colorful dots. These are filled or left blank, depending on if that feature or piece of information applies to the included toy. This will inform you of the batteries, material, functions, etc. It doesn't come with any additional instructions, but none are really needed.

While it's not the highest quality, this packaging would make the toy fine to wrap up and give as a gift. It doesn't dance around what this product is, but it doesn't have any lewd sayings or x-rated pictures like some adult products tend to.

When I got assigned the DR for the Mood Kinky Tickler I wasn't stoked, but it did look like an interesting design. I was disappointed when my first one was dead on arrival, but the admins got me another one shipped out to review. This one worked perfectly!

As I suspected, this toy is a unique design, but isn't going to sweep the industry by storm. It's more than a bit awkward to bend the toy up to your clitoris with the beads inserted, and the shape of the tickler also gets in the way of using this during vaginal penetration.

One reason I don't like these beads very much is that you have to press the length of the strand between the last bead close to your vagina in order to get this to reach your clitoris. All I can think of is that this seems to be a germ superhighway from your anus to your vagina.

While this toy wasn't for me, if you like weak vibrations on your balls and perineum, this would actually be a very interesting toy to play around with. The size also makes this good for beginners and moderate anal users.

I have given this toy 2 out of 5 stars. While it is easy to insert and made of good materials, it's a bit weak, the rigidity can make it uncomfortable, the vibrations don't carry to the beads, and I am concerned about this causing an infection.
