Glo is a pretty unique butt plug. As its name implies, Glo glows in the dark. In order to glow in the dark, you will need to expose it to heavy amounts of light beforehand. Simply hold it close to a lamp, ceiling light, or high-powered flashlight to activate the glow in the dark properties of Glo.

In addition to being a bright, neon color and glow-in-the-dark, Glo also vibrates. Attached via a slim wire is a small remote that is easily held in one hand. Through the remote you'll experience 6 unique vibrating functions, all powered by 3 AAA batteries.

Glo can be used with or without the remote. Users who simply want a butt plug can avoid attaching the remote for a vibration-less experience.

This toy is marketed as a butt plug; however, if you'd like, you can also insert the toy vaginally. It can be used alone or with a partner. If desired, you can even share the toy with a partner, though I do recommend washing it before sharing. It is not angled to stimulate any specific area on either gender, such as the g-spot or prostate. Instead, it is a general butt plug meant for use by anyone.

Glo is not fully waterproof, so I do not recommend using it in the bath or shower. The toy itself is safe to use in water; however, the wire going to the remote and the remote itself are not.

Glo is made out of two different materials: PVC and Sil-a-Gel. Both are mixed together to create the hot pink material seen on the outside of the toy. Sil-a-Gel ranks in at a 5 on the safety scale on Eden because it is semi-porous. PVC is a non-porous material that ranks in at an 8 on Eden's safety scale. The material is hard (almost like plastic) and kind of pliable. The PVC/Sil-a-Gel covers the entire toy except for the base. Beneath a thick coating of the outer material there is a clear, soft, gel-like core. This core is very squishy and kind of sticky, almost like a jelly toy. Doc Johnson does not provide any information on this inner core.

Glo comes in four colors: blue, pink, yellow, and orange. The color you pick is the color of the outer layer only, not the inner core or the control pad. I received the pink toy. It is also the outer layer of PVC that has the glow-in-the-dark feature.

Glo had a somewhat strong scent right out of the packaging, but that dissipates with washing and leaving it out to air dry. Right out of the packaging it was only strong enough for me to smell it within about a foot and a half.

The PVC has absolutely no texture or design to it. It's entirely smooth and shiny. Beginners will like the ease of insertion due to the smooth material, and advanced users will like the size of the toy and the vibrating functions.

Glo is a medium-large butt plug. It measures about six inches long, with five inches of that being insertable. It starts out at 3 1/2 inches circumference and widens to 5 inches before the stem. The stem is one inch long and measures three inches in circumference, which is big enough to keep the butt plug in even when walking around. It is slightly larger than most medium butt plugs we have, but smaller than most of the large ones.

Glo's shape works well for holding the toy inside of the anus. It is also big enough to provide male stimulation of the prostate when the toy is vibrating. It can also be used discreetly underneath clothing if desired, though it will take some work to hide the wires and remote.

I think the size is a better choice for someone who's had some experience with butt plugs. It's too big for those just starting out with anal play.

Glo is small enough to hide in something like a sock ball, but it's not discreet. The vast majority of butt plugs have the same basic shape, so everyone who can identify a butt plug will know what this is.

Glo is controlled by a wired remote. The remote is attached to a 28 inch long wire. It's small enough to hold in one hand. There are two buttons on it, one of which controls the power and the other of which controls the vibrating function. When switched on, the toy automatically starts on the lowest setting. Turning the toy off and back on does not start you at the setting you left off at.

The vibrations seem to start near the tip of the toy; however, they can be felt throughout it. Compared to other vibrating anal toys, the vibrations in Glo feel much stronger. The vibrations are more buzzy than rumbly.

Glo has 7 vibrating functions:

- Constant low
- Constant medium
- Constant high
- Pulsing, staggered increase from very low to high
- Fast pulses of high vibrations
- Faster pulses of high vibrations
- Constant high

Several Doc Johnson toys I have feature the same vibration setting (constant high) twice and state that the toy has more vibrating functions. While the packaging says there are 7 functions, there are only six unique functions. I will cover our favorite functions in the experience section.

The controls are very simple to use, even with lube-covered hands. The fact that the remote is connected to a wire and not the toy itself makes it very easy to change the settings.

Glo is pretty quiet during use. When turned on the highest setting, it's no louder than my cell phone's vibrations. When inserted, it does make some noise but covers and a closed door will muffle it completely.

The toy takes 3 AAA batteries, which are not included. I can't really comment on how quickly the toy drained them. After about 10 minutes of use the batteries died, but they were very low on power to begin with. After about 20 minutes of recharging, I put them back in and it lasted for a little while again.

Glo is very easy to clean and care for. It can be washed with soap and warm water or your favorite toy cleaning product. It's safe to submerge the toy itself completely during cleaning, but I would make sure to watch out for the cord coming out of the bottom, which should not get wet on the tip or at any point where the wire is exposed through the plastic due to wear. Once it's clean, it can be left out to air dry. You can wipe it dry with a towel, too, but the material exposed at the base may collect some lint from this.

For right now we just have Glo stored in the original packaging. At some point we will most likely transfer it to a Ziploc baggy. I strongly recommend storing any toy by itself in its own packaging or a bag just to keep it clean and ready for its next use. This also prevents things like toy colors bleeding onto other toys or materials reacting to each other and melting.

Even though Glo is made of PVC with Sil-a-Gel, it's safe to use with either water-based or silicone-based lubricants. I suggest using water-based lubes since those are less slippery and thus make it easier to ease an anal toy in slowly.

Glo comes packaged in a black paperboard box with a cut out in the front. Through the cut out, the toy can be seen inside its plastic tray. The text is mainly gray with some words printed in bright colors. The toy's name is printed in a rainbow design. The back of the box gives a basic description of the toy: it's a butt plug, it glows in the dark, it's phthalates free, it vibrates, and it's made in the USA. If you flip the box over and look at the bottom, it says the toy requires 3 AAA batteries, which are not included.

I like the packaging. It's not particularly informative, but it's nice and will work well when gifting. It doesn't have any photos of naked women on it, so it's really nothing to be embarrassed about. I would have liked to see some basic instructions for use with it.

The packaging can be used as storage if you choose; however, you might be better off just using the plastic trays the toy is seated in since they're the part that keeps the toy safe and clean.

If you decide you don't want the packaging, all of it can be recycled.

Glo after holding it near a lamp for about 30 seconds and then taking it into a dark room. The glow from the lamp lasted about 5 minutes, so you'll need to expose it to high amounts of light for a while longer to get the glow to last longer. Most glow-in-the-dark stuff requires this exposure to work.

I personally am not interested in using anal toys. My fiance, on the other hand, loves them, so he ended up being my guinea pig for Glo. He decided to play with it one night while he was doing some other stuff around the house. He found he was able to walk around the house and do small chores with it in very easily. He was also able to sit in his desk chair with it for a short while. He says the sensations he felt with Glo were more powerful than any other vibrating anal toy he's tried. Glo itself did not do much for stimulating his prostate, but the vibrations did.

After a while, though, he had to remove Glo because he said it was starting to hurt him. The toy was hurting because it was a bit too big for him and because the flared base was pushing into his body painfully when he was sitting in a chair with Glo in. He thinks after a few uses he'd get used to it and it wouldn't hurt anymore. While the sensations from Glo were very stimulating to him, he had to remove the toy to be able to focus on pleasuring himself.

He says he would definitely use Glo again, despite the pain he felt. It was not so much to stop him from using the toy, just to stop him from using it while sitting in a chair. Doing that just kind of seemed to wreck his use of it for the night.

I'd never tried a glow-in-the-dark toy before and found the idea interesting. Now that I've actually tried one, I'm interested in buying more. I looked on Doc Johnson's site to see if there were any other toys in the line, but most are anal toys. They have a few different styles offered in vibrating or non-vibrating models. I was disappointed to not see any dildos or vibrators aside from a mini vibrator.
