Lux's "L"

The LX-3 prostate massager stays in place well, has a long-lasting rechargeable battery, easy to use single-button control, and nice rumbly vibrations that carry well through the stiff toy into the user's prostate. It can also be sanitized (thanks to the silicone coating) and used as a clitoral vibrator. The downside is the location of the vibrator - since it's in the perianal arm, things pressing against the outside of the toy can noticeably dampen the internal vibrations.

extremely useful review
The Lux LX-3 plus is slightly different take on the "curved L" style vibrating prostate massagers made famous by Rocks Off's "Boy" line. Instead of the Rocks Off's solid silicone construction and detachable vibrator, Lux uses a silicone-coated plastic construction with integrated rechargeable vibrator. The result is a toy that performs noticeably better than the Rocks Off offerings, although at a higher price.

Instead of a magnetically coupled charger, Lux sticks with the tried-and-true plug approach, using an extended headphone-style plug. The charger port in the LX-3 is self-sealing, eliminating any worries about a cover coming loose and allowing water into the toy. It charges in about 2-3 hours, and a full charge is still going strong after over 30 minutes of use.

Using the LX-3 is simple and easy. Once lubed, the bulbous shape slips easily into position and stays in place without having to be held in. The controls are very simple (a single button), but easy to use even while the toy is inserted - a single press turns it off, while holding down the button increases the power of the vibrations. There are no patterns offered, only constant vibrations, but I find for prostate play I like constant best. The vibrations are nice and "rumbly," carrying well through the toy and the user's pelvis while providing good prostate stimulation. The rearmost "tail" projection provides an easy-to-find point that, when pressed, pivots the tip of the LX-3 into the prostate for added stimulation. It's easy for either partner to find even during play.

My main criticism of the LX-3 lies with their choice to put the vibrator in the external arm. Usually it works well, but if cloth or other items press up against the LX-3 the vibrations are damped noticeably. I noticed a reduction in the vibration strength even with pants pulled up, which is unfortunate as the LX-3 is otherwise secure and quiet enough to be used under clothing in semi-private settings.

Since it has a silicone coat, the LX-3 can be washed, sanitized by spraying with bleach water, and used by multiple people (do not boil, as the heat will damage the toy). It can be used by women as a G-spot/clitoral vibrator, but is a bit frustrating as the arm is not quite bent enough to allow for simultaneous G-spot and clitoral stimulation. The best way to use it on a woman is probably to hold the insertable arm and use the perineum arm (where the vibrator is) as a clitoral vibrator or for stimulation at the entrance to the vagina.

While the silicone coat of the LX-3 is compatible with oil or water-based lubes, I would recommend only water based lubes. There is a slight depression at the charging hole even when sealed, and oil lubes would be much more difficult to clean out if they got in there. Other than that there are no difficulties with cleanup as the toy is completely sealed and the surface is 100% silicone. Lux does recommend that you go to the toilet before use to ensure your rectum is empty to ensure maximum stimulation as well as easy clean-up.
Experience
My experience of the LX-3 was tainted. It performed admirably, but in the same box I received my Lelo Billy. Even against that competition the LX-3 faired pretty well - in the raw power department it lagged behind significantly, but the LX-3 is handsfree and the self-sealing charging port is a nice feature (especially compared to the Billy's sealing plug that keeps opening). If I could only have one of the two, though, it would probably still be the Billy.

Nice review. I'm not sure I would pay a lot more for the vibrating version, but some of the regular Lux prostate toys look interesting.
