Pleasure Zone

This is a plug I am glad to have worked my way up to. It's an exciting next step in my solo play, and has worked better than any other I've tried for wearing during sex. I love the feel of metal inside me, and the shape is comfortable, making this pure pleasure for me. The different sizes mean that there is more variety for different comfort levels.

Use

This is not a beginner toy. But for anyone already into anal play who is looking for something a bit more satisfying, this just might do the trick.

The Metallic Zone Cone is big, heavy, and hard. I've been wanting to try a metal toy for a while, and was sure I was ready for one, so I was thrilled to get this. Despite a few minor flaws, I have been very happy with this plug and am glad it's mine!

Like with all plugs, this one can be inserted for just wearing around or can be played with during masturbation or with a partner. It feels nice and smooth going in and has a relatively thin neck so if you're moving it in and out it gives that "popping" sensation I love.

Since this is metal, care should be taken when inserting it. Lots of lube is a must with anal toys! If you or your partner are using it for thrusting, it should be handled more carefully than a softer toy would, since anal tissues are delicate and bruising is a possibility with this guy.

Material / Texture

One thing that makes this metal plug less than perfect is the lack of information about the materials. The product insert states that the "Main composition" is aluminum, and also that it complies with the European Standard for Safety of Toys. This is not a huge amount of information on something that is going to be pressed against a mucus membrane, so I will leave it to you to decide if you feel it's what you want.
I have no issues with any allergies, but since it doesn't state anywhere that this is nickel-free, anyone who does have reactions to nickel or any other metal should probably not risk it!
I know there are opposing viewpoints on the safety of aluminum. Again, it's up to you if you want to use this or if you'd rather steer clear of aluminum as a sex toy material.

That said, I personally am quite happy using this plug and I love the texture and feel of it! I love the smoothness and hardness of metal, which makes this feel amazing going in for me. I also like the weight of it. One of the things that appealed to me about metal is that now that I am used to wearing a silicone plug pretty regularly, I wanted something more intense. This stays in well once it's fully inserted, so I'm not fighting against gravity, but the weight does make me much more aware of having it in than I am with something lighter.

One of the things I enjoy about metal and glass is the possibility for temperature play. At room temperature, this feels nice and cool going in but warms up fast. I enjoy holding it under warm water for a few minutes so I can feel the heat as it goes in, too.

This would have been way too much for me when I was starting out, so I think a total beginner should pick something smaller and soft and then work up to this one.

Design / Shape / Size

First, let me say that my measurements vary slightly from those listed. The key word there is "slightly" - I don't think I would have noticed had I not pulled out my own measuring tape to give more detail in this review.

With Ruler
I got the large size - 5" in total length. (please forgive my lack of photography skills!)

Ruler 2
The base measures 1 3/8" across. It's about 3/8" high. This was very comfortable to sit down with, so I give it extra points for having a great base!

The neck is pretty long and thin. It's 1" long and 1 5/8" around. This helps the plug to stay put really well, given the size of the body.

The insertable length is 4 1/2" overall. Since 1" of that is the thin neck, the bulky part is 3 1/2" long.

The plug tapers nicely, being 4 1/4" around at the widest point at the bottom, and 2 1/4" at the tip.

These proportions worked great for me. I like the length, and the gradual taper makes it more comfortable as it goes all the way in. I am all about comfort in any anal activity, since one of the first pieces of advice I got was "if it hurts, stop." The anal area is delicate, and even though porn might have you believe that it's supposed to hurt, I never want to damage myself, so I pay close attention to how new things feel as I'm trying them.

Since I like to wear plugs around the house and sometimes when I go out, and not just during sex, I like that this one works well for that. The base is small enough not to get in the way or be noticeable, and having a thinner neck with a thicker plug helps my muscles keep it where it should be. When I take it out or put it in, I do notice that there's more of a popping sensation, which I also enjoy. The base is also flat, and wide enough not to have any issues with slipping in. You don't want that to happen!

This is also just a very pretty plug. It's pretty obvious what it is, but to someone not in the know it might be able to pass as an art-deco rocket ship. It's so nice and shiny I'm tempted to leave it out as decor and see if it really can pass the test when my mom visits!

Performance

As I mentioned, I worked my way up to this:

Plugs
On the left is this shiny piece of metal I'm discussing.
Over on the right is the Bootie, which was my first plug. It's just too small these days, but I keep it around.
In the middle is the Plug Of Lust in the large size. I've been using it a lot. It's slightly bigger around, but rigid toys like metal and glass always feel bigger to me, so I don't notice the difference compared to the Metallic Zone Cone.
This also illustrates the range there is in plugs, and how much different a "beginner" one is from a more "advanced" one!

The first time I used the Metallic Zone Cone, I had my Plug Of Lust in for a little while as a "warm up". When I switched, I added lots more lube and the Metallic Zone Cone fit right in. It felt great, and gave me more of a "full" sensation than the Plug Of Lust, which I had had in for an hour at that point.

Since then I've used the metal plug with no "warm up" and have continued to find it comfortable and pleasing. I always lube it and myself up really well, and slide it in slowly. I enjoy the entry, and when it gets all the way to the neck and pops into place it's just right for me.

Care and Maintenance

This is easy to care for since it can be washed with soap and water. It's non-porous, so there is no issue with it picking up smells or staining. Metal can also be cleaned more thoroughly by boiling it or putting it through the dishwasher.

The box it came in is good for storage, or it can be set upright on its flat base if you want to have it handy for later.

Any lube can by used with metal. Silicone or water based lubes are okay to use with this. There are lubes on the market specifically for anal play. I may be in the minority but I prefer aloe vera gel for use with anal toys, since it is thick and soothing.

Packaging

The packaging this comes in is pretty, but silly.

The box itself is a great design. It has a lid that lifts off, and a foam insert with a cutout the plug fits into, with another thin piece of foam to lay over it.

Package
package 2

This is one of the few packages I've liked enough to save for storage of a toy.

The silly part is the insert. It has a few points in its favor, like being printed in several languages, and telling you that it complies with the European Standard for Safety of Toys and is nontoxic.

The points NOT in its favor are, well, all the rest of the information. It tells the user that it is "An elegant made butt plug which gives you a lot of pleasure and enjoyment" (Direct quote! Engrish, anyone? It is made in China . . . .)

But then the "Caution" list tells the user it is for external use only, and should "not be used when bathing or in the shower."

I used it internally (who's going to buy this for external use only?), and I have used it in the shower. So much for that warning!

On the other hand, it does say it "should not be used on swollen or inflamed areas of skin lacerations." Poor grammar aside, I do agree with this warning, since using a plug - especially one of this size and hardness - if you are having such issues with your anus and rectum is not a good idea.

No stars for the product insert, but they're often a bit vague or downright unhelpful. Good thing we have the forums here for advice!

Personal comments

Now for the TMI section of my review!

Part of the reason I have gotten more into anal play in the last year has been at the encouragement of my partner. I'd tried it plenty of times before, but He suggested that if I was going to be having anal sex with Him, I should explore more on my own and see what gave me pleasure. I was no stranger to anal sex, but no one had ever presented it in quite this way before. I was kind of "meh" about it. Having a partner who wants me to only do things I really enjoy has been enlightening!

So, since I'd been having a great time with my solo activities and have enjoyed things with Him more than I ever had with another partner, I wanted to show this new toy off as a surprise.

I put it in before He was going to be at my house for a date, and let Him find it. When He touched it and immediately realized that it was not my usual plug, He was surprised and interested. I bent over so He could slide it out and see, and He was excited by how big and long it was. I got some nice slow easy thrusting with it in His hand before He slid it back in.

Not too much later, we had sex. He's rough, and both my other plugs have fallen out when He really gets going. This one stayed in the entire time, no matter how hard or fast He thrust. And He is . . . a bit above average size.

I REALLY loved having this in me during sex, and I think the design (thin neck and thick plug, and a gradual taper) helped it stay in place.

That is all a huge plus for me!
