Use

This semi-hard, flexible butt plug is quite a treat for the more experienced anal adventurer. This toy was a nice birthday surprise from a friend, and although I'm not a fan of sil-a-gel, I just had to give this gorgeous plug a try. Once I got my boy alone, we placed the toy in warm water and began preparing my bum for this Radiant Gem. I am rather anally experienced, so once well lubed, this plug slid right in. The curves felt amazing, and the firm "squish" of sil-a-gel is quite enthralling. After a little foreplay, my partner penetrated my vagina. I am constantly looking for new butt plugs to accompany our sex. I generally go for harder materials, so I was excited to try this forgiving radiant gem.
I really liked the feel of this sil-a-gel toy in my bum during sex. Harder butt plugs require a little more consideration in order to avoid injury, so it was nice that my partner could get a little wild while still enjoying the tight feeling of double penetration. We found that the plug tended to slip out much easier than other plugs we have with smaller stems. This was a big con because the main reason I get plugs is so that I can wear them during sex. Also, the base was a bit large and occasionally impeded my partner's thrusts. Sil-a-gel is a very forgiving material, so the interference wasn't painful, just a bit annoying. This plug definitely did the job and seems to be worth the money. It's a bargain for those interested in Sil-a-gel, and the design is simple, but nice.

Material / Texture

I am honestly not a fan of sil-a-gel. My first dildo was made of this material, and it certainly served it's purpose, but I have more expensive tastes these days. This definitely is a decent material as far as safety goes, I am very anal (no pun intended) about what I put in my body. I appreciate that Sil-a-gel is free of cadmium and entirely non-toxic and anti-bacterial. However, this toy is semi-porous and attracts lint and hair worse than any other toy I have. It is suggested that condoms be used to offset this problem, so this kind of makes the anti-bacterial property irrelevant.
The smell bothered me, but I am pretty sensitive. It isn't a horrible smell, it's just rather persistent. The feel isn't quite sticky, but it has a little bit of grab to it. In found that the biggest problem I have with semi-porous materials is that they don't maintain lube very well. They dry up quickly and make it more difficult to penetrate. This could probably be avoided by using a condom on this toy.
The one thing I love about sil-a-gel is the feel of it inside me. The firm squishiness of these toys provides just enough give to make it very safe for thrusting, yet it's also firm enough to deliver quite a pounding. I liken it to an almost-hard penis. Bouncy, soft on the outside with a firm core.

Design / Shape / Size

I found the gentle curves of this plug to be very stimulating. I am quite anally experienced, so I enjoyed the blunt, 1 1/2" tip plunging into my bum. I would caution beginners to start with something smaller or use a toy with a tapered tip. The plug may harm you if you don't work up to it.
Once the tip is in, the toy then has a slight narrowing to around an inch, and then again curves to a 1 1/2" bulge. I really liked the feel of this second bulge as it stretched my anus and put pressure on my perineum. The plug felt great, but once it was in I wondered if it would stay put. The difference in diameter didn't seem very dramatic, so I was a little worried. I found that just hanging out, the plug stayed in rather well, but once my partner started in on my vagina, the plug just wouldn't stay in for long without assistance. This was pretty disappointing, as this is my favorite way to use plugs. I think that this is the biggest design flaw of this toy. A butt plug with free will can be quite frustrating.
One feature that I did not explore was the suction-cup bottom. It apparently provides light suction for sticking to hard, flat, and smooth surfaces. I can see this being useful as the plug has trouble staying in on it's own. Perhaps riding this toy on the side of the bath tub would be an enjoyable solo experience.
I would recommend a case for travel as this bright, rather large plug is kind of attention-grabbing. A sock works fine for disguising this toy. You're just not going to keep the lint off this thing anyway, so I wouldn't bother trying.

Performance

The smooth transitions on this toy bring throbs of pleasure. I love plugs with a little bit of size variance for the sensation of stretching my anus. The large blunt tip made for exciting penetration and gave me a very full feeling. The density of sil-a-gel is firm yet squishy, providing enough give for a safe encounter while still feeling very large.
This plug did not stay in during sex which is a huge con for me. A smaller stem near the base would have solved this problem. Also, the base is pretty thick and round, often impeding my partner's plunges into my vagina. Luckily, the sil-a-gel did not harm my boy, but this experience was still a bit annoying.
Aside from the design, I just don't like sil-a-gel. It's a decent material, but I have graduated to safer toys like glass or pure silicone. I really don't like the smell or the way it attracts lint and it just doesn't hold on to lube. I would personally spend a few extra bucks on a silicone toy. I have a few silicone toys and don't have any of these issues with them.

Care and Maintenance

Sil-a-gel is a semi-porous material with an anti-bacterial additive. The bacteria-blocking nature should make things easier, but the fact that it's semi-porous kind of negates this attribute. This toy collects tons of lint and dirt, and should be meticulously cleaned with hot water and soap before and after each use. It is recommended that this toy be used with a condom to help keep it clean. It's probably a good idea because this plug dries up quickly and doesn't hold onto lube (at least the all-natural kind). This radiant gem is compatible with both water and silicone based lubes as it is technically made out of PVC, not silicone as the name might suggest.

Follow-up commentary
I just really don't use this plug since I've gotten ones that stay in place. I need something more stable!

Do you think this is a decent plug for gentle thrusting, since the curves aren't very exaggerated?
  • Contributor: FAM4LIFE
Sintimate-Yes, I could see it being nice for that. Just use plenty of lube or a condom. The material isn't super sticky, but it does have some drag. Good idea!

This is gorgeous but I dunno about the smell. Sil-a-gel is stinky
  • Contributor: FAM4LIFE
I agree, Airen! And it totally hangs out on your skin and everything else. It drove me crazy with this toy and the classic dong I used to have. Everybody knew what went down if I came in smelling like cherries!
