Pretty plain collar by Leatherbeaten - review by User Unknown

The Pretty Plain collar is such a functional piece. Clip a leash to it and you're instantly the center of attention, simply because everyone wants to play with you (actual experience), it's secure enough to hold up some rough handling in the bedroom, it's simple and understated enough to be an everyday accessory, and it's pretty and alluring enough to dress up an outfit for a night out. Overall, it's a real attention getter that doesn't scream "SEX," but whispers sensually.

Okay, so first I really want to talk about how soft this collar is. Even compared to the Lynx Collar, The Pretty Plain Collar is luxury in leather, and to call it buttery soft, really is no stretch of terms. It's not thick leather, so it's got a lot of flex and give to it, but it's still strong and durable to take the tugging, and pulling, and yanking that it's made to withstand. But it really has been worked into the perfect softness, and is amazingly comfortable to wear. Good leather is good leather, and you can tell by the faintly smokey-rich smell, that this is real quality leather.

Now lets talk about the non-leather pieces of the Pretty Plain. The metal pieces of the collar are as follows: a nickel plated steel buckle, nickel plated steel d-ring and post, and a brass rivet, which is the inside part of the d-ring and post. I don't know about anyone else, but I've been allergic to nickel since I was little, get an itchy red reaction when I wear jewelry with nickel in it, but I haven't had any problems with the nickel in this collar. Out of the box, I wore it for a full six hours or so, and had absolutely no reaction that day or any day since then, and I've been wearing it quite a bit. (So comfortable!) The only complaint I have, and it's so minor that it doesn't really detract from the collar, is that the D-ring doesn't swing freely in the post, and tends to stick a bit.

I'm especially fond of the buckle Leatherbeaten used on this collar too. Because both straps go through it and secure onto the little metal post, you can always have the buckle centered on the back of your neck. So, no matter your exact size, you'll never end up with the buckle all the way to one side to achieve the desired loose/tightness.

Straight out of the box I wore it for the rest of the day and evening, working backstage of a theater show with a bunch of familiar people. Even in warm temperatures backstage, the raw inside of the leather didn't leave any excess dye or coloration on my skin, through people pulling and jerking on it to test the limits of the leather, it didn't rub or irritate my neck. It was a total attention getter and it was a short amount of time before someone found me a leash and I was the theater pet for the rest of the night.

In a very minor way I've always considered myself more of a Dom-type personality, but I have to say, being led around and ordered about (by guyfriends & girlfriends) was extremely hot. Definitely something worth trying once.
