Beautiful Bondage On A Budget

For a very low price, this kit allows someone curious about bondage and/or domination & submission to dabble without committing too much money to get "gear." The blindfold and cuffs are of decent enough quality to last through this initial exploration phase, and the the red faux leather makes the set look stylish.

Pros
A solid, basic kit appropriate for a bondage beginner.

The 'collar' option is not really functional, only appropriate for beginners.

Use

This kit is a quick and dirty starter kit for someone looking to get into bondage and/or domination and submission. It would be a good gift for a lover who is timid yet curious, or if you yourself are timid and curious and have a lover who would be game for exploring something new. The price is very low yet the variety and quality is high enough that this won't be a use-once type of toy. This kit would be of little interest to anyone who wishes to invest in a decent quality set of cuffs or blindfold, or who already has an alright starter bondage kit of their own.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

This kit includes one blindfold, two snap up wrist cuffs that may be combined to make a collar, and one leash/tether. The blindfold is very simple. It is made of red faux leather and is lined with a very low pile faux fur - enough to be soft, but not enough to be cushion-y. the blindfold is not adjustable and just features a stretchy elastic band which should accommodate most head sizes, but will likely stretch over time.

The cuffs are similarly faux fur lined and are also made of faux red leather. They snap shut with standard snaps, and there are two size options that are likely to accommodate most women's wrists except for the extremely slender...and most men's wrists that are not too overly large. That is to say, skinny and beefy wrists might find these inadequate. The snaps do up so tightly that it feels somewhat like the cuffs are challenged when you attempt to undo them. There is no indication of tearing or anything after multiple snaps and unsnaps during testing, but like the blindfold's elastic I imagine that eventually this will eventually cause the cuffs to wear out.

The D-ring on the cuffs is positioned parallel to the lay of the cuffs, which I find less than optimal for cuff wear because it places the cold D ring on the skin of the wrist during wear, and if the D ring is being used to attach a tether or rope or something, there could be irritation on tender wrist skin. The Cuffs can be snapped together to make a collar, because of the number of snaps there are essentially three size options, which should make the set OK for most slender to medium size necks. Beefy man necks are not going to work with this set. When used as a collar, the D-ring placement is a bit more appropriate...but generally this set is insufficient as a collar. The fact that the two cuffs have to be attached means that there is not one but two over lap regions, and I find it too annoying to wear for any length of time. Also, because there is a D ring on both cuffs, it means you end up with two around your neck - one on either side, or one on the front and one on the back. I would say you'd be better off supplementing this kit with another inexpensive collar.

Finally, the tether. The tether is a leash for a small dog that you could get at a dollar store or pet store. I am sorry to say it but it's true. It features a metal slide clip and a wrist loop. It can be used a s a leash in this set if you are using the cuffs as a collar, or as a single tether for one wrist cuff if you slip the leash's wrist loop over a bedpost or something like that. The slide clip is inadequate for attaching to both wrist cuffs at the same time, so it's really only 50% of the restraint you'd probably want if using the cuffs as bondage tie off points. However, it's very easy to supplement this kit with another leash from your local dollar store.

Performance

The blindfold and cuffs work fine, and the tether is more than adequate for its purposes, but the overall craftsmanship of this set is simply moderate. Given the price tag of this set, however, it really exceeds expectations and truly is a good choice for someone looking to explore bondage for the first time. The comfort level is high enough to allow longer play session as well, which is critical when first exploring bondage - comfort can really make a world of difference.

The blindfold does an alright job of blocking out light, but it is a bit slender so with light struggling and efforts, it can be pulled out of position quite easily. Adding a few hairclips to secure the elastic band to the hair of the blindfolded may help it stay where its intended. The cuffs, as mentioned, feel a bit flimsy when the snaps are being pulled open; that said, the cuffs show no signs of tearing despite a bit of aggressive testing, so it is likely that they will last through the entire "beginner-trying-out" stage. The collar that can be made by attaching the cuffs together is a little uncomfortable and is generally not the best use of the cuffs in this kit.

Packaging

This set comes in a nice, fully recyclable, cardboard package with a tasteful yet salacious black and white image of a woman wearing the set on the front. The back of the box has the start of an erotic story that is about the use of this kit, with a barcode than can be scanned (plus a website address for those without phones than can scan barcodes) in order to read more of the story. This is a nice touch, and makes the set truly appropriate as a gift between lovers interested in dipping their toes into the world of bondage.
