Collar with bondage ring by Spartacus - review by Trashley

This is a GREAT collar. Let me just start off with that to set the tone for the rest of this review. This collar is wonderful for beginners, advanced users, and everyone in between. It's not gaudy in the least, just simple, streamlined, and sleek. This is for the sophisticated slave in all of us! Color can be great, but I really think this is the sexiest thing I could ever see on myself or any woman or man. Just that simple one band of black whispering, "I'm yours. I'm yours. Completely and wholly. I'm yours. Use me."

The collar is great for leading, choking, yanking, pulling, and fashion statements. Take my word, darlings, you're the cream of the crop with this Spartacus baby.

It's small and folds up, so it can go wherever you go, but if you're not the collar-wearing TYPE, then it's probably a little less than travel-friendly.

This gorgeous metal and leather collar has flat round rivets embedded in the leather in vertical pairs. Two pairs sit at the outset, one pair on each side. Two pairs sit together in the middle, with a very sturdy D ring situated in the middle. The D-ring is sandwiched using these rivets between the inner 1 and 1/2" band and the thinner outermost 1/2" band. My partner and I tried SO incredibly hard to rip the D-ring out, but no luck, to our satisfaction! It seems that no matter how hard we tug and pull on this collar whether with our hands or with a leash, this baby is not gonna let you go. The D-ring is also a very appropriate size; I can't see any leash or nipple clamps not being able to clasp onto it.

The thinner, but still impressively sturdy, band also houses the metal buckle. There are ten succinct sizes (little holes that the buckle can connect through).

This collar is 20" long, and curls in on itself to accommodate virtually every neck size. The smallest size has about a 6" diameter, which is pretty small, but I know that some petite girls (myself included) may find it a little too loose. It didn't seem to interfere with any of the collar's functions or comfort, though, so I'm not complaining. I always had a lot of tail hanging off because I had to tighten the collar so much, but it never seemed to flap around or get annoying or distracting or in the way or any of that. Again, no complaints here!

The width is 1 and 1/2" (tall; the width of the actual leather band, holding it between your fingers is about 1/6" thick), and considering I was contemplating buying this and a 2" collar, I'm really glad I stuck with this one. I think 2" would have made my neck feel a little TOO stiff and constrained. I have enough range to move my head around, but when my partner wants get me into a certain position, this collar can still get me there. This collar isn't flimsy in the least, especially when you have two or three layers of this thick supple leather wrapped around your neck! It will stay in place, and when it gets pulled on, it WILL let you know. This collar is in charge of you, not the other way around! As they say, this thing wears YOU.

This doesn't itch the bottom of my chin or any part of my neck. No chafing, no itching, no raw skin in sight. It's just so soft! Surprisingly so. Some collars have fur or unfinished insides. Fur I find a little tacky, and unfinished leather is a scratchy gross pain to deal with, especially if you sweat on it. This leather is some of the highest quality I've ever had in my BDSM kit. It's smooth to the touch and glides across your skin with no drag, just ever so slight nerve-tingling pleasure.

There's no locking ability on this collar, which I know can be a con to some, but it personally didn't bother me.

I've dealt with a lot of leather, and leather of this caliber tends to crease down (in the good way!) into a smooth, silky and strong material, so don't worry about the longevity of this product. It will definitely last you a long time. The dye is really top notch as well, so no worries about bleeding colours if you sweat. This baby smells sweet and musky like good leather should, but doesn't reek its scent all over your living room.

This collar works WAY better than expected! I couldn't have even imagined the silky texture, the solidarity of the construction of the piece, or the plain sexuality it exudes when I wear it. It has a life of it's own! It will take you from good sex to great sex, blood to sweat to tears and then back to a nightclub. I've never seen something so rugged be so aesthetically pleasing!

It doesn't chafe and is ridiculously comfortable to wear, even when my partner is using the collar to cut my air restriction when we play with choking. (NOTE: Always be safe! Have a safe word AND a safe action when playing dangerously. Safety first. THEN teamwork!) I can play in this collar for hours without feeling any discomfort. I'm sure that after a day of wearing this collar out, it would be just as comfortable as when you first put it on, but I'm not really a public collar-wearing girl, so I guess you guys will just have to be the judge of that for yourselves.

As I mentioned above, the collar is virtually unbreakable. We tried teeth, tugging, every situation we could think of, but no luck. This is a solid collar that will last you years upon years of play.

The buckle is easy to work; it's easy to get on and easy to remove, but when it's in place, it's not going to budge.

Leather's super easy to clean. Just use leather cleaner and a damp cloth or baby shampoo and a damp cloth. When you let it dry, be sure to dry it within 12 hours, because you don't want mold to form. Icky! Collars don't tend to get as messy as other things, so you don't need to wash it every time you wear it; just when you get something specific on it. As with all leather products, make sure to store this away from humidity, extreme dryness, heat and/or cold.
