Use

The Fifty Shades series has inspired a new line of sex toys to hit the market. One of them is the Submit to Me Kit. This set is a beginner's bondage kit. It is designed to introduce light bondage in a non-intimidating way. The kit comes with a blindfold, a paddle, and four sating restrains that have D-rings on them. The kit allows couples to experiment in light restraints, sensory deprivation, tickling, and spanking. This kit can be a great gift for fans of the book series. It can make a thoughtful couple's gift for any special occasion or romantic evening.

Those who are more versed in bondage should look elsewhere. The properties that make this beginner friendly may detract more advanced kinksters (it can be escaped from, no locking features, won't withstand heavy, heavy use, and more).

The Submit to Me Kit can be used in multiple ways in any combination. It can also be used in conjunction with other toys. You can restrain your partner and insert a toy inside them. You can engage in role-play scenarios. You can also use the restrains to bind more than one person if there is a group scenario. Overall, this can be a great kit for exploration.

The Blindfold

The blindfold is made of a combination of satin and faux-fur. The faux-fur is what comes in contact with your eyes. The padding is nice. The blindfold has two, thin elastic bands that secure it to your head. While the elastic lets is stretch, the blindfold is on the snug side. If you have a lot of hair or a normal to larger head you may feel uncomfortable when wearing this. The blindfold feels the least luxe compared to the other items in the kit.

The Restraints

There are four identical restraints. Each one is dual colored: one side is a silver color and the other is black. The restraints are made of satin. One end has two D-rings. This allows your to loop the other end through the rings to restrain your partner. You can also slip this end around furniture and tie your partner with the other end of the restraint.

Each restraint is about four feet long. There is enough restraint for any size ankle or wrist. It also allows slack for more tying options. There are no loose seems or frayed edges on the restraints. They seem well made. The satin is smooth and pleasing to the touch. It can snag on broken nails and rough surfaces. The D-rings are made of metal.

The Paddle

The paddle has two sides: one is covered in silver satin and the other is black faux-leather. The paddle has the strongest smell out of all the items, but it is not overbearing. The paddle has neat, even stitching around its perimeter. It has a fabric loop at the end of it. The paddle can withstand some abuse, but not extreme use. Hard use can cause the paddle to overextend and possibly become creased. For the purposes of this kit, the paddle is a good quality and will fulfill its purpose with ease.

Performance

The Blindfold

If you want to see out of the blindfold, you can. It is easy to look down if you open your eyes. However, the blindfold fits a bit snug. The sensation of opening your eyes will make you want to close them because your eyes will feel the pressure and presence of the fabric. If anything, this is an incentive not to cheat. Others might not want tu use the blindfold because of the pressure your eyes can feel.

If you are susceptible to headaches, be careful when using this blindfold. The two elastic bands are both thin and tight. They can cause discomfort, especially if used for long periods of time. This is relived if you cut one of the elastic bands off. The performance of the blindfold is not hindered if you do so. If anything, it is improved.

The Restraints

The restraints are easy to use. Thread the end of a restraint through both D-rings. Put this loop over the desired appendage. Tighten it a bit and then thread the end back through the second D-ring (the ring farthest away from you). Then you can pull on the tie until both your and your partner are satisfied with the tightness. There is extra fabric that you can tie to bedposts, other limbs, another restraint, a chair, or other piece fo furniture. There are four ties; there is one for each wrist and ankle.

It is best not to pull the restraints too tight. If you pull them too tight you will feel the metal against your skin, which can become unpleasant. If you avoid this the restraints are comfortable. This is a beginner's kit, so these restraints are not meant to completely trap you. If the retrained person wanted, they could break the ties and free themselves if they pulled hard enough. The restraints are secure enough that you can playfully tug and pull without worry.

The Paddle

The Paddle, while made for lighter play, can deliver a surprising amount of force. It's always best to test a paddle (or any object designed for such play) before you use it on your partner. This allows you to see how much force you can deliver with different amounts of strength. This paddle can be used to tease, sting, and even leave some red marks. You can hit your partner with either the satin side or faux-leather side. The satin side does provide a less direct and softer blow compared to the faux-leather side.

The Paddle does not have as much range as other implements, so you will need to be closer to your partner when using it. Fleshier parts are better to start with. The paddle can make quite a sound when used with some force. You will easily be heard throughout a house if there's not intentional background noise. The music will also need to be loud to hide it completely.

The Paddle has a loop. You can wear it on your wrist to keep the paddle from flying away during use. If you intend to use this paddle with a lot of force, it is best to hold the paddle higher up the handle. This will keep preserve the integrity of the handle longer. The paddle can cause a tickling sting or a painful whack: the choice if yours.

Care and Maintenance

There are no care instructions this kit, but it is no difficult to care for. However, it is best not to expose any of the items to harsh detergents or a washer machine (the blindfold would probably be okay on the gentle cycle with a more delicate detergent). A damp cloth is an option if debris collects on any of the items. You can hand wash the restraints and blindfold and leave them to drip dry away from sunlight. Make sure all items are completely dry before storing them. It is best to store them in cool, dry locations. The faux-leather paddle is not nearly as high maintenance as leather. It will not crack or become brittle if you use mild cleaners on it.

The kit can be store in either the box it comes with or the storage pouch. The pouch is a good option for those who have limited space. However, the box is thin enough to fit in many places. If discretion is important, you can store the kit in a drawer or mixed with other boxes in a closet.

Packaging

The packaging for this set is very nice. It comes in a dark grey outer box that has "Fifty Shades" written on it as well as the name of the kit. It is tasteful and does not have any pictures except for a small thumbnail showing the cover of the first book. It is not discreet since it's obvious what is on the box if you read it. Remove this box and you'll have the main, reusable box the set comes in.

This box is more durable and reminiscent of some boxes you would get from LELO products. The main box is simple and has the title "Fifty Shades of Grey," on it in silver letters. If anyone is familiar with the series, they will know the contents are not puritanical. Lift the lid of the box and you'll see the contents. The box is divided into two compartments: one has the paddle, blindfold, instructions and pouch and the other has the four restraints. The pouch is fairly large and can easily accommodate the contents of the box. The pouch, too, had the book's title on it. The pouch is a great option for those who have limited space. If the paddle is a favorite, it can be store by its loop on a hook.

Experience

Well, now that the review is done... what do I really have to say about this set?

It is simply too much money for a set like this. You can buy satin ribbon and some D-rings for a fraction of the price of this set. If someone is a huge fan of the book series then maybe it's worth it (as a bridal gift or birthday gift). However, if you're looking for some beginner BDSM gear for a good value, I implore you to save your money. For the price of this set you could get a G-spot/multi purpose toy, a paddle, and some ribbon or ties for about 40-50 dollars.

However, if price is not an issue and you love the look of this, then rock on. There's nothing inherently bad about this set. Out of all the items, our favorite is the paddle. We own a few whips and a crop, but no paddle, so this one was nice to add to that collection. The paddle holds up well to the power we like to use. It also has a nice weight in your hand. It is well-made and doesn't feel cheap. Even though I consider myself intermediate in terms of bondage, this kit has enlightened me. I never really considered paddles as a favorite implement until now (whips are not the only type out there, folks!). The Blindfold is the odd man out and could have been better.

Still, it's just not the best bang for one's buck. If this set does happen to come to you, there are some great alternative uses for it. My partner and I have had more fun with this set when using it in a (mostly) non-sexual manner. We have had cowboy-lasso fights. We are ourselves with two ties each and try and catch each others limbs. We have done tipsy ribbon dancing to piano music. After cutting one of the elastics off the blindfold I have used it to catch some sleep. The paddle is fun to whack each other around the house.

The ties can be used to help with household tasks as well. I have used the ties to wrap a pile of clothes/linen and compact them for packing. They're great at keeping all your mismatched socks together. It can be technically used as a belt if you desire. If you don't want anyone to think the tie is sexual you can snip the "50 Shades" label off of it.

great review! I couldnt stop laughing at the idea of lassoing one an other around the house It's probably so expensive due to the 50 Shades line, but it doesn't seem like a bad kit at all, and apparently it can be used for so many other task! I'm someone who's pretty sensitive to smells, especially that weird smell some plastics have. Would you compare the smell so such?
