Fresh blindfold by PHS International - review by DeliciousSurprise

When I went to pick up my package, I was expecting to find a pair of flipflops in my mailbox. I was quite surprised, when I opened it excitedly at the post office, that it was the Fresh blindfold, two days before I expected it to arrive! This blindfold is perfect for both BDSM scenes or, if you often wake up with the sun blinding you, a cute sleep mask. Because it's got an elastic band that can stretch fairly far (I put my hair in a ponytail, and fitted the blindfold around both my head and the ponytail to see if it was still wearable, and I found that it was) it will fit both male and female faces, and should not constrain those with wider bone structures than others.

It's a bright peppy pink, with a stitched blue flower--very chic! It doesn't *look* like a BDSM mask, it looks like an exceptionally cushioned sleep mask, which is good for those of us who have run out of storage space in the toybox.

The Fresh blindfold comes in a plastic case (much like the other products from their line) with a small insert about the product. I must say, I was a little disappointed with the craftsmanship of this product, though. The first thing I noted was that there was a small black speck on the stitching. On white stitching, this totally stood out so I looked a little closer and deduced that it was probably where they had burned the seam to stop it from pulling. That was okay, but then I looked at the rest of the blindfold. The cushy inside of the mask was visibly larger than the cute pink front. Even that could have been okay, but then I looked at the edges of the mask. Not only are the seams totally uneven (very close to the edge on the top on the right side, with about twice as much room on the left side), but the places where the cushioning was supposed to show through, there were jagged edges of the fabric, as though they'd missed a few spots while trimming.

None of these take away from the usefulness of the product, but it does detract from my appreciation of it aesthetically.


It did hurt the upper bridge of my nose, but after a few minutes the discomfort went away completely.

This mask worked really well for me; it was comfortable and not sweat-inducing. Sweat is not fun, when something is pressed directly against your skin for a long amount of time, because it tends to give me heatstroke. This didn't leave me sweating at all! And the elastic didn't pull on my hair, or make me uncomfortable.

I could see a little bit of light at the very bottom of the mask, but I was unable to see my surroundings or determine what was going on while I used it. To give you an idea of how much I was able to see, I was unable to determine how many fingers were being held up in front of me until the fingers were directly under my nose. As for light blocking, looking directly into the light, I was able to tell that it was bright, but was undisturbed by it. However, if you're looking for complete sensory deprivation blackout dark, this won't satisfy your needs.

The Fresh mask is made of polyethylene plastic, and it's totally vegan friendly. However, it's unable to be sanitized completely, so any sweat, blood, mascara, eyeshadow or anything else that could get on the mask can be passed on to the next user. Beyond that, the inside of the mask is white, so ladies (or gents) who might be wearing makeup might want to remove it or risk staining it.

It can be cleaned soap and water, but do not boil it because plastic melts!

I would give this product a low 5 stars for usage (only low because it wasn't full blackout), but a 3 for craftsmanship! The errors in craftsmanship may be small, but I also wasn't looking for problems and saw them without much effort.
