Nick Hawk's locked up and lights out kit is a nice way to experiment light bondage play without having to spend a lot of money. The kit includes a nice blindfold and a set of soft cuffs. The cuffs are non-intimidating and offer a quick release lever as well as a set of two working keys. This feature is great for those who are not comfortable with submitting complete control to their lover as well as those who enjoy self bondage play. The blindfold adds mystery while blocking light out and preventing one from seeing what their partners next move.

These are best for those who want to experiment with some light bondage play. Advanced BDSM users would want something more sturdy and permanent.

This kit includes police style handcuffs with a faux fur cover and a safety lever on the side. The faux fur provides a more comfortable feel and the safety lever allows you to get out quickly if the need arises. The cuffs are designed to restrain ones hands to something, together, or to your partner. They come with a key, but it's not necessary due to the latch on the side that unlocks the cuffs. It has locks on both cuffs and there are five links joining the cuffs together.







They are not built to withstand heavy restraint, but provide a locked-up feel with fairly sturdy construction.




The cuffs measure 4" long from end to end. The chain length is 4 1/2" long between the two cuffs. Outstretched the faux fur liner measures 8" long and 1 1/2" wide. At its smallest the cuffs measure 5 1/4" and at its largest measure 7 1/2".





The cuffs are made from nickel free iron with silver plating. The liner is 50% polyester and 50% PMMA.

The kit also includes a blindfold that should fit most. The blindfold is lightweight and blocks out light and provides the wearer a feeling of the unknown. The material is soft, flexible, an stretchy. The blindfold is 7 1/2" across and 3 1/2" up and down. The band measures 11 1/2" unstretched and stretches out to 32". My head measures 22" around and it fits comfortably without binding. The blindfold is made from nylon and the band is made from stretchy rubber. The design is really nice and the overall quality is great. There are no loose strings or uneven sewn edges.

The cuffs would not work for suspension play, but instead gives the user the feel of being handcuffed with the comfort of knowing they can get out at any time. They are more for romantic type of play to learn and explore your lover than hardcore restraining. They are soft, easy to use, and do not cause any pain or marks while worn. The fur covering make them enjoyable for couples new to bondage and prevent any irritation while wearing the cuffs. You can take the material off if you wish to have a harder feel. Without the faux cover, the metal is uncomfortable and leaves marks on the skin.



The cuffs cannot be used on large ankles or wrists. My ankles measure 7 1/2" wide and they barely fit around them. However, the good news is they can fit on smaller than average wrists. I have 5 1/2" small wrists and these fit wonderfully.

For lightweight bondage play these will work wonderfully. They are not designed for any heavy-duty bondage and restraints such as rough tugging and pulling. They are not painful if worn for any amount of time. The two keys provided can be used for unlocking the handcuffs when someone is bound by them. The safety release will spring open and release whoever is restrained at any point if needed.

The blindfold fits wonderfully and blocks out light while remaining comfortable. It works well for sensory play and can also be worn as a sleep mask.

The blindfold can be machined washed in cool water if needed and dried flat. The cuffs are best cleaned by taking the faux fur cover away from the metal. From there, you can wash the material in cool water and out to dry. The metal should be lightly wiped down and dried to prevent rust.

The kit was packaged in a cardboard box with information regarding the product on the front, sides, and back. It had a disclamer mentioning the product wasn't sponsored, endorsed, or affiliated with the Showtime television program Gigolos. The box is much larger than the kit, so unless you prefer to keep items in their original packaging, it may be best to recycle.

Overall, I liked this kit. I was able to be cuffed for extended periods of time without becoming uncomfortable. I really liked that the cuffs were adjustable to smaller sizes and I didn't have to worry about slipping out of them unless I wanted to. My husband didn't like that it wouldn't fit over larger size wrists or ankles. The blindfold fit both of us well without being binding.
