Is it a magic wand, or something more? The Ruff Doggie Styles Rainbow star shaped riding crop has a playful shape and interesting colors. It is a fairly well built crop that holds its own against most other crops.

The Ruff Doggie Styles Rainbow Crop is fairly typical in its construction. The star on the end and the handle are made of leather while the shaft is wrapped in nylon. The front of the star is quite colorful with shades of red, yellow and green marbled into it and a little bit of a black over tone. It's hardly the full rainbow but is quite pretty to look at never the less. The back of the star is completely black leather. The star is the only place the construction of the crop seemed to be lacking. The edges of the star on the crop I received frayed a bit. It is nothing that can't be clipped off with a pair of scissors easily, but it does give the crop a cheap feeling.

The nylon shaft is an interesting color choice. The nylon is not gold but more of a golden beige that contrasts poorly with the star. It's not something that distracts too much from the overall cuteness of the crop, but it is sad that the color choice was so poor.

The handle is the same black leather as the star. It's weaved into itself to create a nice braided pattern and I have yet to find either the beginning or the end of the weave. There's a strap for hanging that fits perfectly over the end of the crop so it's out of the way when you want it to be, but easy to use when you want to hang it.

The Rainbow Crop is very well weighted. It is easy to use and doesn't feel awkward or off balance. The handle works well for both me and my boyfriend, who has a dramatically different hand size than me so I would say it is very safe to assume it will easily work for anyone.

The crop can create a very sharp sting, so make sure you know your partner's play level. It works very well with any strength you use it. It has a nice feel when used lightly and really does sting when you don't. If you use it hard enough you can actually create a red star mark and an almost star shaped bruise. It's kind of fun to create different patterns on the bottom, or so I've been told. The Rainbow Crop's star also makes an interesting sensation when just drug across the skin, so it can be used that way for more sensation play. It's for sure a multi-level toy, just be careful not to hit with the shaft, trust me, it can really hurt!

Make sure when using any impact toy to avoid any areas that can be damaged by said impact.

As it's made out of porous materials the Rainbow Crop cannot be sterilized. If it needs to be cleaned, it can easily be wiped down with a washcloth with mild soap, or leather wipes. However, since it cannot be sterilized be careful with body fluids and multiple partners, a crop can carry just as much as a porous insertable.

Overall, the Ruff Doggie Style's Rainbow Star Crop is a well built crop that is fairly attractive and very fun to use. It can be used with any level of play and is a fantastic and interesting addition to any toy box.

Despite being worried about the construction of this toy, it has held up very well to semi regular use. I've had nothing fall apart or have to be fixed. The colors grew on me more than I thought they would.

The leather hasn't worn down any on the toy and still provides a somewhat sharp edge for sensation play as well as creating a great sting when hit with it. It's still as springy as ever and I don't see it breaking down any time soon. A very fun to use toy and a great buy.
