Red rendezvous kit - light bdsm kit by Spartacus - review by Mr. E

I’ll admit that I normally don’t pay much attention to these value priced kits, as I have found them to typically be lesser quality items geared to newbies. In fact, Eden has this classified as a “light BDSM kit”, and this alone would send me on my way looking for something else. But for some reason this little kit caught my eye. I suspected it would be different. Eden’s description begins with: “For anyone who is looking to venture into the world of bondage for the first time...” First time?? Still, I was not discouraged. I just needed to see more. Why, you may be wondering. Leather, that’s why. I was powerless to the seductive powers of the red, sexy leather. Ohhh yeah, the seduction of leather. I just could not resist. It even comes in a sheer red gift bag. What? A frilly gift bag, tied closed with a dainty little ribbon. What am I thinking? Why do I want this? Leather, sexy red leather. Need I say more?

The Kit arrived in a sheer red gift bag. I was actually surprised at how small and frilly the bag is. It was tied closed with a thin little red ribbon. The whole presentation seems a little misleading to me. At first glance you would expect the bag to contain something soft and gentle. But I knew better. I wasn’t going to give in so quickly. Closer inspection quickly revealed the true story. Once I carefully opened the frilly little sheer bag, I was pleased to find three separate high quality products.

All three products are well constructed from the same thick red leather. It is a nice deep red color. We really do like it.


Blindfold BSPL-08M-13R


The blindfold is contoured and cut to fit nicely. It is lined with black faux fur, making it very comfortable to wear. The elastic strap is pretty thick. Not too stretchy like the ones I normally get on my sleeping masks. At first it seemed a little too tight, so I gave the elastic a couple stretches to loosen it up a bit and now it fits snugly on my noggin. My wife was also pleased with the fit. We both found that it fits comfortably and completely blocks out all vision. Perfect!

Whip BSPL-10RR


When I first removed the leather thong whip from the frilly gift bag, the tails were stiff and bent out of shape. It came out of the bag shaped like an L. The tails were all bent 90 degrees. This was nothing to be concerned about. I was easily able to straighten them out by bending them in the opposite direction. They have since softened up quite a bit with use.

It only measures 10” long overall. It is a very simple design. The 5” handle is simply a length of the leather cord wrapped around the 12 tails and tied off. It all feels pretty secure. There is also a small d-ring that would be suitable for hanging this little guy. But don’t be fooled by his size. He can deliver a sharp sting. I found this to be a great little whip for all sorts of play. It can be used to gently tease or it can quickly redden the flesh to a matching fire-engine red color. Sometimes a larger whip just gets in the way. The 10” red thong whip is great for when you are up close and personal. It is also discreet and portable. The tails can be folded over and the whip can be easily tucked into a jeans pocket or small bag for spontaneous play time on the go.


Cock Ring BSPL-06AR


The Cock ring is pretty basic. It is a 1/2” wide strip of unlined leather measuring about 8 ½” long. The placement of the chrome snaps allow it to be snapped closed in four different positions, ranging from roughly 5 1/4” to 7 3/4” circumference. This wide range should fit most men. The snaps are great because they allow you to put it on even with an erect penis. Another big benefit is that it is quick and easy to remove. The downside is that the snaps can pinch or pull on hairs. This was my first leather cock ring and to be honest I could take it or leave it. I personally would have preferred the cock ring to be lined and to be constructed from softer leather. But I guess it was nice that it matched the set.

Care and Maintenance
To clean the leather, simply wipe it down with a mild soap and damp cloth, but avoid saturating it with water. A leather conditioner can also be used to restore suppleness. The faux fur lining on the blindfold can be wiped down and dried with a hair dryer on the lowest setting.
Spartacus recommends storing leather out of direct sunlight and away from humidity or excessive heat. They also warn against storing leather in plastic bags which can prevent the leather from “breathing”. We keep ours stored in a dedicated drawer of our toy chest reserved for similar toys and that has worked just fine.



Buy it!
Overall, this is a great little set. It is all manufactured from thick, high quality leather so it should prove to be quite durable and last a long time. Eventually the elastic strap on the blindfold will stretch out, but it is made well and should last quite awhile. The pocket sized whip is super handy, great for all sorts of playful escapades. For me, the cock ring is just icing on the cake. I didn't really expect to like it, but the easy on, easy off snaps make it a nice addition to our toy box. My wife really appreciated seeing me in nothing more than a coordinated blindfold and cock ring. I'm sure that was a sight.

If this is something you'd be interested in, don't hesitate. It is quite a bit less expensive than buying the three pieces individually and the red leather is sexy-hot!
