This is definitely for beginners, those averse to pain, and those who err on the side of sensation play in lieu of straight sadism and masochism. The strikes are light, loud, but very soft. A lot of bark, with very little bite. Which is ideal for a newbie, or the lighthearted top.

The core of the crop is a very bendy and light plastic, which lends itself well to being moved quickly. The paddle end of the crop seems very sturdy and well made and is also quite light. The feather end is a bit less sturdy and will not hold up under heavy use - but that is the nature of feathers. They're not inherently sturdy materials. If you use the toy gently or avoid striking with the feather end, it should last you quite a while.

I am a person who enjoys impact and pain play in my scenes, so this toy is not quite what I would use day to day. It is very light, very gentle, and will not elicit anything more than a light sting no matter how hard you swing it. However, this means it does work very well for gentle sensory play (especially with the feathers!), and it is also very well suited if you are hitting your partner in more delicate areas (nipples, genitals, soles of the feet, etc.) - it will get their attention, but you are not likely to do any damage.

It also makes a delightful whooshing noise when you whip it around! The lightweight nature of it means you can crack it on a hard surface and make one hell of a noise to shock your partner. It is definitely a versatile toy!

The handle and paddle end are easily cleanable with alcohol wipes. The feathers, however, are not something one can easily clean. I would suggest an alcohol spray or gentle wiping with alcohol pads - however, I would much rather encourage users to avoid touching the feathers to any bodily fluids if it can be avoided. Cleaning the feathers is doable, but not practical.

The crop is narrow enough to be tucked away safely, but it does not bend for storage well, so any storage spots need to be able to accommodate its length. Storing it bent seems very likely to permanently warp the plastic.

I found this toy works amazing for clit/cock spanking, and the look of it fits the "dominatrix chic" aesthetic quite well! It may not deliver the level of pain I was hoping for, but it does work very well for easing a partner into heavier play. It's a great warm up!
