Lethal leather cuffs by Rachel's Pleasures - review by Darkness Withinus

The Lethal Leather cuffs by Rachel’s Pleasures offer a good set of leather cuffs, at a reasonable price. There is nothing like the smell of a new leather toy so, when the cuffs arrived on my doorstep, I was anxious to open the package and just take in the smell. The cuffs themselves are your standard BDSM black, with chrome fittings, and are two strips of leather that have been sewn and riveted together with a D ring attachment for tethering them to something.

Looking over the quality of the rivets and stitching, things look secure and well made. The buckle was extremely stiff, and had almost no ability to rotate around where it was connected to the cuffs. This worried me as I was afraid it would make the cuffs uncomfortable to wear for any length of time. After several hours of working the buckle backing forth it still hadn’t noticeably loosened, and was still difficult to work with.

So on to the fit of the cuffs, I put them on to check the fit. They seemed to fit me well but I noticed I was pretty far down on the tightness of the cuffs. This could be a problem if you have really small wrists. I later tried them on a couple different friends of mine, and found that if your partner has smaller wrists they tended to be tough to get to fit properly. But the leather is comfortable and the light cotton fabric that they have lined the cuffs with is enough to cushion them, while not causing your wrists to sweat like some of the fur lined cuffs. This is good because the worst thing you can be when you are bound is uncomfortable.

Ok, away from the basics of the fit and on to the functionality. The first time I used these cuffs to hold a partner, they worked great. Since then I have used them on a couple others, and found that the leather will shift around if the cuff isn’t tight enough. It becomes uncomfortable for the person wearing the cuffs, and can lead to the hands falling asleep. So you might need to add a couple extra holes to make these cuffs a little more adjustable.

Also I have worn them to clubs several times and have started to notice that the adhesive that is used to keep the cotton backing on, inside of these cuffs held down, is coming off. This doesn’t affect the functionality of the cuffs. It does look a little tacky and feel odd when you have to pull the adhesive off of your skin, after you have worn the cuffs for an extended period. And with the adhesive rubbing off, and the cotton coming loose, the cuffs have started to rub a bit when my partner is bound in them for an extended period of time. The sensation she describes is a good thing for her, but it you leave it for too long it could end up chafing your partner and that would be no fun at all.

Also, even after fairly extensive use the hardware on these cuffs is really stiff and can cause them to be uncomfortable, unless the buckle is sitting squarely across the wrist. This can make the anchor ring on these cuffs end up in an interesting spot, and that may impose some restrictions on positions just for comfort reasons. But I am still hoping that with wear the buckles will loosen up, because if they don’t that becomes a huge downside to these otherwise well made cuffs. They are great for a once in a while use, but we will see how they hold to frequent usage.

After working with theses cuffs for several years I can decidedly say that they have lasted well. While the adhesive that held the light cotton lining to the leather of the cuff has continued to peel away it hasn't had an effect on the wear of the cuffs and they still feel similar today as they did when I purchased them. The hardware is still a little stiff but it has also gotten much better with time. They have made a good addition to the cuffs in my collection and are an easy go to when I want something that fits the standard BDSM ideal of what a cuff should look like and feel like.
