The Sting You Were Looking For

This is a great whip for close up play. It is not a very durable design, but it is great for people who are looking for a sting in each hit. It works quite well for sensation play because it can easily be used lightly for warm-up or for a sharp sting. As long as you are okay with repeatedly disentangling the tails, this is a great flogger.

Use

The Rubber Whip by Sportsheets is a flogger with many thin rubber tails. It can be used for anything from light teasing to a sharp sting. Although it is a flogger and not a whip, I will continue to call it a whip for the sake of its name (Rubber Whip). I purchased this whip because, in my past experiences, rubber transfers energy very well and thus usually means that it provides a heavier hit. This whip is designed to give more of a sting, rather than a thuddy impact. It has more power than the cheap novelty whips that you can find some places, but I would not consider it an "advanced" whip. I find that this is geared more to people who are looking to experiment with floggers/whips. This can do more than hurt. The light touch of the rubber tails on the skin can feel very good by themselves, without causing any pain.

Design / Craftsmanship / Size / Material / Features

The total length of the whip, including the handle, is 22". I believe this is a great length for close-up play. The handle is sized well, about as thick as a roll of quarters. This rubber whip is a very simple design. It is made of several rubber strands that go through a clear handle and wrap around the hanging loop at the end. At both ends of the handle there is a weighted ball, but they are not very well attached to the handle. Personally, I do not believe that this whip is very durable for the long term, but it is strong enough for you not to have to worry about it breaking during every use. The falls of the whip are very thin and they get tangled VERY easily because of that. It is nearly impossible to use this without the falls getting tangled every few throws. Be careful when untangling it. While running your fingers through it to get the strands untangled, you can snap a few tails if you are too rough with it. Also, seeing as the strands are rubber, there is a faint rubber smell to it. The smell is light enough that it is not very noticeable.

Performance

I was disappointed by the whip because it was not as hard of a hit as I expected. Through the eyes of a beginner, I would consider this a pretty good starter whip. Usually, thin falls like these provide a stinging sensation rather than a thud when hit, but, because of how many falls there are, this actually does provide a bit of a thud as well. By no means is it a very hard hit, but it is actually very enjoyable for either foreplay or beginner play. When hitting your partner, you will need to be careful of the wrap around. The hit of this whip itself is not very strong, but when it wraps around the body and hits, the wrap around hit is actually decently powerful and provides quite a bit of a sting. This whip also makes a decent amount of sound when being thrown. This whip has not made any marks on me. However, I do not mark easily. Someone of more sensitive skin may be lightly marked by this.

Care and Maintenance

Care and maintenance for this are quite simple. Anti-bacterial soap and water will work well as a cleaning solution for this. In terms of storage, I recommend that you hang the whip by the handle rather than put it in a drawer. Floggers keep much better when being hung. You can keep it in a drawer, but it is at a much higher risk of getting tangled that way.

I have a very different perspective on this item. I think it's well-constructed, for what it is - an affordable, beginner's introduction to flogging. I have had mine for eight years and it's still goin' strong, so obviously the construction has something going for it, right?

I'm still unclear on what you mean by the whip not being a "hard hit". In my experience, the power behind an impact is primarily about the person swinging the tool, not about the toy itself. The toy's material and design have more to do with the type of sensation. For example, this one can be fanned out for a stingy impact or a twirled into a bundle for a thicker thud. Giving a "hard hit" with any particular tool is up to the partner dishing things out!

I have not had any personal issue with its durability (I have not had it for all too long), but it appears that it could have some durability issues with it over time.

In terms of a "hard hit", I did not have much success with "bundling" it. It would usually just tangle and fan out to provide more of a sting than a "thud"

Great review, but I agree with Lexical. This really can hit hard, at least it feels that way to me.

Great review! I have one of these and my only issue is the falls tangling on occasion.

Thanks for the review, Constant de-tangling would be pretty frustrating to me. Thanks!
