Luxe white wrist cuffs by ASLAN Leather - review by Dawn (Lilac Distraction)

As a kinkster, I spend a lot of time thinking "Mmmm. Sexy restraints." and "Mmm. Sexy medical things." Of course that leads me to "Mmm. Sexy medical restraints." Guess where that got me? Writing this review.

Who doesn't love Aslan Leather? I know I do. I'm an advanced/intermediate player so I'm always looking for good quality restraints to break out when I have an unruly sub (or when I decide to be unruly). On top of that, I have an intense medical fetish. The massive collection of the Jaguar cuffs I have is nice and can be incorporated into all types of scenes, but these are the best of both worlds for me. High quality, sturdy, beautiful, and sexy in that psych ward way. (I'm just sad I can't use them with my straight jacket.)

They work perfectly in medical scenes and are wonderful for serious players, but the padding also makes them perfectly suitable for beginners, as well, as long as they are comfortable with something they won't be able to slip out of at a moment's notice. They're not hurty like some of the other cuffs. It's rare you can find restraints that work for all levels of experience. Aslan also takes the wide variety of sizes of wrists into consideration with all of their cuffs. Normally I find that other cuffs are a bit too big to fit my tiny wrists, or too small to fit on wrists of larger sizes. The size of these allows them to fit just about anyone who wants to throw down and be immobilized.

The only thing that you might not be able to do with these is use them for serious suspension play. They may provide more wrist support than other cuffs (like Aslan's Jaguars) because of the padding, but just make sure to test and find out how much weight you can put on them while avoiding injury. As always, be smart and play safe.

Anything made by Aslan Leather excels at every single category here. I haven't gotten one single piece of gear from them that I've had the slightest of complaints about. These cuffs included.





These are absolutely gorgeous. White leather is incredibly sexy and eye-catching. The beautiful leather paired with the flawless steel rivets, buckle, and rings turn this simple piece of equipment into a piece of gear that exudes luxury and sophistication. Aside from that, they give off an incredibly authentic medical feel without being too much for scenes without specific themes. These stand out in my collection of cuffs because of their eye-catching design and class.

Aslan's Leather is always of the highest quality and is always worth what you pay for it. It's incredibly durable, yet soft and comfortable. There are a couple of parts to these cuffs. First, you have the padding which is about 1/3" thick and moderately squishy. The squishiness is perfect for comfort, but the padding is firm enough so that hands can't be easily slipped out of them. The leather on this part is soft and supple but thick and durable. Up next, you have the strap across the outside of the cuffs. This is made of incredibly tough and rigid leather which is great for a couple of reasons. It allows you to get a really firm and tight grip on the wrists and the holes in it won't get stretched out when the cuffs are put to good use. Then you have some wonderful metal hardware here. There are two D-rings here. One is for securing the leftover strap and the other is for attaching the cuffs to each other or your choice of restraint hardware. The rivets are in there pretty good so there's no chance of tearing these babies apart. The last (and coolest) piece of hardware is the buckle. It's got a loop at the end of it which makes for quick and easy application and removal, but the best part of it is that the loop means that you can lock these cuffs. Throw a little padlock through the loops and they can't be taken off without unlocking them, and it adds a little more visual appeal to them. (Just make sure you have a couple of spare keys hidden somewhere.)

These fit my tiny (like, really tiny) wrists and will fit those with wrists around 9 1/2" around, so you have a lot of play room there. The strap isn't connected all the way around the cuff so you can fold it under for smaller wrists which is also a great way of helping to make sure they can't be escaped. The notches are relatively close together to ensure a perfect fit. Even when completely tight against my small wrist there was still another smaller notch there.

To sum it up, these are gorgeous, will work for players of all skill levels, comfortable, and sturdy. What more could you ask for?

Half of the appeal of these for me, personally, is the medical look. They seem like they're straight out of some fancy psych ward and I can get down with that. I was incredibly impressed how genuine they looked when I first got them in. Comfy, cozy, and won't let your patient escape. Perfect!

I was also surprised at how they were still serious restraints even though they were padded. I had worries that they would be able to be slipped out of, but it almost seems like the padding helps to secure the wrist in a comfortable manner. No bruises or marks left on anyone. Sometimes the edges of the softer leather cuffs can leave small marks because of how sturdy the edges usually are. They're not the bulkiest of restraints out there, but they certainly aren't the least.

The only thing that some may find a little irritating is that it does get a little hot under them and they may end up a little sweaty. You can apply some powder to the wrists to cut down on this, or just let your patient deal with it. No one said kinky things were supposed to be totally comfortable, right?

Leather can get a little tricky to take care of. Aslan's leather is incredibly durable and stays supple with little to no effort on the part of the user. If you need to clean them after a play session you should stick with a lightly damp cloth and only the mildest of soaps if needed. Letting these cuffs get too wet will damage the weather. Be sure to keep them dry and such. Store them out of direct sunlight and heat. I keep mine in a nice plastic container in my closet when not in use and have no issues with that.

Aslan says that a little clear nail polish can help protect your hardware from tarnishing. My other cuffs from them have shown no sign of this even though I skipped that. If they get a little dry use some leather conditioner on them. Another added bonus (and reason why I love everything Aslan) is that all of their products come with a lifetime guarantee. If it ever breaks or becomes damaged during normal use they will either repair or replace the item. That's an incredibly rare find in the world of BDSM gear.

These were discontinued for the longest time. My heart broke the first time I ran across them and I saw that they had met the fate of awesome things I thought I would never have. Luckily, I kept a wishlist filled with all of these things, and almost had a heart attack when I saw they were back on the site. I'm glad I didn't give up on them. At the moment they're discontinued again, but they may make a much appreciated return.
