Bitch collar by Spartacus - review by married with children

I do not remember why or how we added this collar to our collection. We have had it for 2 years or so. It has not seen much use, but I feel it has been enough for a review. (I do not call my wife a bitch, or any other woman for that matter. So it does not get used very often)

The collar is made of smooth leather, about 1/16 inch thick. There is no kind of backing on the back side, so you get the rough unfinished leather feel. Seeing how there is no loop to tie a leash, the collar should not rub often enough to cause discomfort. The lettering is made from metal and attached in the same way as a staple. This could be a problem latter on if one of the sharp ends where to come loose from the leather. The leather has a light smell of new leather. Not as strong as I would like, but enough that it tells you it is made of leather.

The collar is just over 18 inches long. It has 4 snaps for 4 different neck diameters. They range from 17 inch diameter to 14 inch diameter. Chances are, the collar will either be too loose or too tight. It would be nice to see more snaps to offer more diameters. I know I hate to have tight clothes around my neck. Some people might be ok with a tighter fitting collar then I am.

We have not gotten ours dirty enough to need a cleaning. But if it is like any of our other leather toy items, just a quick wipe down with a baby wipe works well. If you dont have baby wipes around the house (everyone should have baby wipes around the house, they make a great quick cleaning cloth), the a damp wash cloth will work. If you get the lettering wet, I believe they would rust. So you will want to pat dry and air dry before putting it away.

Like I said above, I do not call my wife a bitch. And I find this collar to be offensive. But we ignore the word and have used it in the past. If I could remove the word, it would get used more often.

With that being said, the collar is pretty good quality for the price. For someone just getting started, this price range is a good place to dip your toes in. This collar is not a one time use item, it will be around for many years.

The quality of this leather has not failed us. It has stood up to countless times of getting soaked from sweat or other bodily fluids. And each time it has looked brand new after being dried off. This is a must have for a starter collar. Just find a word that fits you.
